Score: UAlbany 53, Marquette 80
Location: Fiserv Forum | Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Records: UAlbany (0-1, 0-0 America East), Marquette (1-0, 0-0 Big East)
Short Story: The University at Albany men's basketball team fell on the road to Marquette in their season opener, 80 to 53, after trailing 30 to 21 at halftime.
Coach Dwayne Killings: "I was honored to bring our team here. Our staff worked really hard to build a roster we believe can win the America East. Marquette is disruptive, well-coached, one of the best programs in the country, and Shaka does an unbelievable job. We wanted to face a team that would pressure and try to turn us over. We responded pretty well to start, came out of the locker room with a big three, and then we did not respond again and got worn down. It is a learning lesson for a group still trying to figure it out and grow. We were down four or five bodies and a few guys stepped up."
