HOW IT HAPPENED

UAlbany controlled the opening set with an early burst, highlighted by Anna Myhal's first-point kill and a three-ace run from Kasia Barletta that created a 13-4 advantage.

Gabriella Karman and Kendall Harris added late kills as the Great Danes closed the frame 25-15.

The second set opened with a UMBC push, but UAlbany answered with a 6-0 run behind Barletta's serve to take the lead.

After UMBC tied the set at 23, Karman delivered a key kill, and a UMBC error sealed a 25-23 win.

The Great Danes broke an early 7-7 tie in the third with a 4-0 run fueled by Barletta's serve and strong defensive play.
