Key Stat Lines
Head Coach Greg Gattuso: "It's a typical Power Four-FCS game. I think there was tough sledding, especially for our defense, in the game. What I look for in this game is our competitive level, and I think we made a massive improvement on offense. From the second quarter on, I feel like we moved the ball very well."

How it Happened:
  • The Mountaineers got on the board on their first possession to make it 7-0. Jahiem White capped a 12-play, 90-yard drive with a 14-yard rush to the end zone.
  • West Virginia made it 14-0 on their next possession thanks to a 12-yard pass from Garrett Greene to Justin Robinson. The pass completed a six-play, 76-yard drive.
  • UVA pushed the lead to 21-0 in the opening seconds of the second quarter. Greene found Kole Taylor across the middle for a 39-yard score to complete a six-play, 69-yard drive.
  • The Great Danes got onto the board with 4:40 remaining in the first half. Griffin Woodell punched it in on the ground from seven yards out, finishing off an 87-yard drive for the Great Danes to make it 21-7.
  • On WVU's next possession, running back Jahiem White rushed the ball up the gut for 36 yards but was stripped by UAlbany's Thomas Joe-Kamara. Erv. Wiggins Jr. collected the ball in the air, switching possession back to the Great Danes.
  • UAlbany took advantage, driving 64 yards on six plays for a TD to make it 21-14. Myles Burkett found Jacari Carter for a 33-yard bomb to the end zone for the score.
  • WVU wasted no time in responding, scoring on their next possession in just over a minute while driving over 70 yards. Quarterback Garrett Greene ran the ball in from 40-yards out to make it 28-14 with just 39 seconds remaining before the half.
  • The Great Danes came out of the locker room with energy on offense, marching down to the WVU two-yard line thanks to big catches from Seven McGee (41-yards) and Levi Wentz (49-yards). UAlbany was unable to convert on fourth down, however, giving the ball back to the Mountaineers.
  • WVU was then able to drive all the way down the field, 99 yards on 14 plays, to push the lead back to three scores at 35-14. The Mountaineers reached the end zone on a 10-yard pass to Hudson Clemet.
  • The Mountaineers pushed the score to 42-14 in the final minute of the third quarter, scoring on a two-yard run from CJ Donaldson on fourth down.
  • The final score of the game came from WVU's Marchiol on a 12-yard rush midway through the fourth to make it a 49-14 ballgame.
