Short Story: The University at Albany women's soccer team fell on the road to Fordham on Sunday afternoon, 4-2.

How it Happened:
  • Emily Dorfman made an early stop in net for the Great Danes, denying Fordham's Tristan McFarlane with a kick save in the ninth minute. She made another save three minutes later to keep the game scoreless in the beginning stages.
  • The Great Danes got on the board in the 22nd minute thanks to an own goal from Fordham. Madison Hnis sent a free kick into the box, which was headed by a Fordham defender, going into the net.
  • UAlbany nearly made it 2-0 moments later on a shot from Claire Owens, but Fordham's Addison Green made the stop.
  • Fordham was able to tie the game, 1-1, in the 36th minute. Abby Borchers sent a feed in from the far side right to the left foot of Liina Tervo, who buried the goal.
  • Dorfman robbed Fordham's Abby Borchers on a breakaway in the 39th minute to keep the game knotted up.
  • Fordham would find the back of the net moments later however, with Tervo collecting a goal on a feed from McFarlane.
  • Less than two minutes later, Fordham's Tervo completed the first half hat trick to make it 3-1 before the half.
  • Fordham's Julia Acosta scored in the 63rd minute to make it 4-1, Tervo had the assist. The Rams players broke past the UAlbany defense to have a 2-1 advantage against Dorfman in net.
  • Casey Stowell was awarded a penalty kick in the 89th minute, sending it home to make the final score 4-2.

Next: The Great Danes are back in action next Sunday when the team takes a trip out to Hamden, Connecticut, for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with Quinnipiac.
