Short Story: The UAlbany baseball team took control of game one early behind a Jared Toby home run as strong pitching carried them to a 5-1 victory. Levi McAllister led the offense as the bats came alive to complete the season sweep over Siena with a 15-3 win.

  • Levi McAllister had a strong day at the plate recording three hits, finishing a home run shy of the cycle, with a career-best seven RBIs.
  • Mike Prisco flashed the power with a home run.
  • Michael Maggio stole a career-high four bases and scored twice.
 
Head Coach Jon Mueller: "It was great to gain the sweep. We threw the ball well and had some minor miscues we pitched around. McAllister had a big afternoon, and we had a team approach on offense that stretched our lead in game two."
 
 How it Happened Game 1:
  • Ryan Pittz got the starting nod for the Great Danes. Casey Vaughn started for the Saints.
  • UAlbany got the bats going early. With runners on the corners, Ryan Ferremi stole second to cause an error and allow Luke Myers to come across and score. Jared Toby slugged a no-doubter to left field, giving the Great Danes an early 3-0 advantage. 
  • With a runner on second and two out, Tyler Figueroa singled through the right side to drive in a run, making it 3-1.
  • Matt Rowe was brought in to pitch by Siena in the fourth inning.
  • The Saints called Connor Byrne in to pitch in the fifth.
  • Michael DiMartino came in to pitch for the Great Danes in the fifth.
  • Richie Paltridge was brought in from the bullpen to pitch in the sixth inning.
  • In the top of the seventh, Michael Maggio got things started with a lead-off single before Ferremi worked a walk. Binder drove the pair in with a single through the left side, extending UAlbany's lead to 5-1.
  • The Great Danes held on to win game one of the doubleheader, 5-1.
 
How it Happened Game 2:
  • The Great Danes gave Luke Boule the start. Joey Laurer started for the Saints.
  • Loading the bases in the bottom of the second, Randall Hien worked a walk to bring in the first run of the contest, giving Siena a 1-0 lead. 
  • UAlbany answered back in the third, with Michael Maggio scoring on a bases-loaded walk.
  • Tyler Tilton was called on to pitch in the third with bases loaded and one out.
  • Luke Filippi worked a walk that saw Luke Myers come in to score to give UAlbany the lead. A throwing error allowed Will Binder to score before Levi McAllister broke the game open with a two-run RBI triple, pushing the Great Danes advantage to 5-1.
  • Kyle Locklear was called out of the pen in the third.
  • Tyler Figueroa scored for the Saints on a wild pitch in the third, making it 5-2.
  • Siena continued to chip away at the difference as Willie Schwarick scored on a sac fly in the fourth. 
  • The Saints brought Even Saulys in to pitch in the top of the fifth. 
  • Ramsey Collins came in to pitch for Siena with bases loaded and no outs in the fifth.
  • McAllister hit a sac fly to center field to score Binder. Filippi scored on a sac fly hit by Cooper Loyal, extending UAlbany's lead to 7-3.
  • The Great Danes called on Cregg Scherrer to pitch in the sixth inning. 
  • With runners on the corners in the sixth, Luke Myers executed a hit and run that saw Maggio score. Jared Toby was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to extend UAlbany's lead to 9-3.
  • Noah Wieczorek was brought in to pitch in the sixth with bases loaded and two outs. 
  • McAllister kept the inning alive with a two-out double down the left field line, scoring two, as the Great Danes extended their lead to 11-3.
  • In the top of the seventh, Mike Prisco hit a pinch-hit two-run bomb, pushing UAlbany's lead to 13-3.
  • Randall Hien was moved from center field to the mound for the Saints with one out and one on.
  • With bases loaded, Levi McAllister hit a single up the middle to score a pair of runs, making it 15-3.
  • Cam Fuer was called on to close the game in the ninth.
  • UAlbany completed the season sweep, defeating Siena 15-3.
