ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany head women's rowing coach Chris Chase has announced his resignation from the program. Chase was hired as the program's inaugural head coach in December.
"I want to thank the University at Albany for the opportunity to begin the process of building the women's rowing team," said Chase. "Unfortunately, due to unforeseen family and personal reasons, it will be necessary for me to step away from my position as head coach. I cannot express how exciting it will be to watch this new program develop and to see its potential for so many incredible future Great Danes."
Director of Athletics Mark Benson added "We thank Chris for all that he has done in getting this program up and off the ground over the last several months. We are sad to see him leave but understand and fully support his decision to focus on himself and his family. We are excited for the future of our women's rowing program."
A national search to fill the vacancy will begin immediately.
