SHORT STORY: Led by senior Jordan Nastos with two hits and one RBI, the Great Danes defeated Colgate in a midweek contest, Wednesday.
 
RECORDS: UAlbany 27-12, 11-6 America East | Colgate 21-26, 7-8 America East

KEY STATS

• Jordan Nastos and graduate student Morgan Petty tallied two hits each. Nastos did it in three at bats whereas Petty had four.
• Redshirt-junior Victoria Vilarchao hit a double for two RBI.
• Freshman Mary Kate Murray and Nastos each added one RBI.
• Redshirt-junior Kate Powers pitched five innings for the win. Graduate student Wendi Hammond came in to pitch the final two innings.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• After two scoreless innings, the Great Danes earned a 3-0 lead in the third.
• Reaching from an error followed by two singles, graduate students Caitlyn Mitros, Morgan Petty, and Maddi Petrella loaded the bases.
• Victoria Vilarchao sent the ball to left center for a two-RBI double.
• Pinch-running for Vilarchao, freshman Kristina Langdon went on to score the third UAlbany run.
• The Raiders tallied their first hit in the bottom of the fourth.
• With two outs on the board and one runner on base in the fifth, Mary Kate Murray singled up the middle to drive in a run from second base.
• Colgate answered with its first run - a solo homer from Nora Megenity.
• Both teams remained scoreless through the final two innings and the Great Danes won the contest, 4-1.
• To close the game, the UAlbany defense combined for a double play at second and first base.

 
NEXT: The Great Danes return home for their final regular-season series - Maine, May 3-4.
