HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Great Danes opened the contest with two consecutive singles from Caitlyn Mitros and Morgan Petty.
- After Petty's single drove in Mitros, she crossed home herself with a groundout from Victoria Vilarchao.
- UAlbany extended their lead when two base runners scored on a wild pitch in the second.
- After UMBC replaced their starting pitcher in the fourth inning, the Great Danes put their fifth run on the board.
- The Retrievers scored three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to tie the score at five.
- As neither team put a runner on base in the seventh, the game went into an eighth inning.
- With a runner on base, Mary Kate Murray slammed the ball over the left field fence to give the Great Danes a two-run lead heading into the bottom of the eighth.
- UMBC put two runners on base with a couple of singles but the UAlbany defense left them stranded to take the 7-5 extra-inning victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Great Danes put a runner on base in the first inning but were unable to take advantage.
- UMBC's leadoff batter got on base with a single before making her way to third base. With a second Retriever single, UMBC took the lead, 1-0.
- Caitlyn Mitros hit the ball to shortstop and beat the throw for a hit in the third inning.
- Holding the Retrievers off the bases through the second, third, and fourth innings, UMBC put together two consecutive doubles for a second run in the fifth.
- Despite their efforts, the Great Danes were unable to take advantage of base runners through the final two innings and the Retrievers took the two-run win.
NEXT: The Great Danes will head to Colgate for their final non-conference matchup on Wednesday (May 1).
