KEY STATS
- Freshman Mary Kate Murray led the Great Danes with three RBI from a double.
- Graduate student Maddi Petrella added two RBI.
- Petrella and senior Jordan Nastos each hit a home run.
- Sophomore Kasey Conn led with two hits. She was the only one who earned more than one hit.
- Conn and graduate student Caitlyn Mitros totaled two runs each.
- Graduate student Wendi Hammond pitched all five innings allowing no walks or runs. She struck out five batters in the near-perfect no-hitter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Great Danes put a runner on base in the top of the first but were unable to take advantage.
- After two scoreless innings, sophomore Deanna Grahek walked to open the third.
- Kasey Conn laid down a well-placed bunt to put two runners on base.
- Mary Kate Murray slammed a base-clearing double down the right-field line after Caitlyn Mitros put a third runner on base.
- Maddi Petrella followed with a home run over center field to make it a 5-0 UAlbany advantage.
- Conn added a double to her stat line in the top of the fourth.
- Mitros singled and graduate student Morgan Petty walked to once again load the bases in the Great Danes' favor.
- With a dropped ball in shallow left field, Maddi Petrella made it to second and all three baserunners made it home.
- Up 8-0 after four innings, Jordan Nastos sent the ball over the right-field fence to help seal the five-inning decision.
- UMBC put up four final batters but were unable to earn a run and the Great Danes earned a 9-0 run-rule victory.
NEXT: UAlbany looks to close the series with a doubleheader on Sunday (Apr. 28).
