GAME ONE

KEY STATS

• With a triple, graduate student Caitlyn Mitros tallied the only RBI of the contest.
• Graduate student Morgan Petty, redshirt-junior Victoria Vilarchao, and sophomore Sara Anderson each added a hit.
• Graduate student Wendi Hammond totaled five strikeouts in the complete-game shutout.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bearcats tallied the first hit of the game in the top of the first.
• The first UAlbany hit came from Caitlyn Mitros with an RBI triple in the bottom of the third inning.
• The Great Danes left two runners on base in both the third and fourth innings.
• After being held off base for three consecutive innings, the Bearcats hit a single in the sixth but the UAlbany defense left a runner on base and finished the inning.
• With just one out in the top of the seventh, Binghamton earned a double to put two runners in scoring position - on second and third. 
• The Great Danes finished the game with a groundout to third and a strikeout from Wendi Hammond.

KEY STATS

• Caitlyn Mitros and Morgan Petty led with two hits each.
• Graduate student Maddi Petrella and senior Jordan Nastos each drove in one run.
• Petrella, Sara Anderson, and junior Caitlyn Frederick each hit a single.
• Redshirt-junior Kate Powers pitched the complete seven-inning game.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bearcats got on base right away but a double play from the UAlbany defense cleared the bases and ended the inning.
• Caitlyn Mitros beat out the throw to earn the first hit of the game.
• Morgan Petty followed with a single to left field.
• After Mary Kate Murray got on base with a fielder's choice, Maddi Petrella drove in Petty for the first run of the game.
• Jordan Nastos continued the scoring with an RBI.
• Binghamton tied the score at two after the top of the second inning before taking the lead, 5-2, after three innings.
• With two solo home runs and an additional run scored from a throwing error, the Bearcats gradually extended their lead to 8-2 with one inning remaining.
• Sara Anderson and Caitlyn Frederick opened the bottom of the seventh with a single each.
• Binghamton ended the inning, and the game, with a strikeout and a double play.

 
NEXT: The Great Danes and the Bearcats will close the weekend series with a single game on Sunday (Apr. 21).
