SHORT STORY: The Great Dane offense came out strong and did not let up as they worked their way to a five-inning victory to earn the series win over Binghamton, Sunday.

KEY STATS
- Graduate students Morgan Petty and Caitlyn Mitros led the team with a 100% batting average (3-3).
- Redshirt-junior Victoria Vilarchao shared the lead with Petty having totaled two RBI each.
- Sophomores Sara Anderson and Deanna Grahek added two hits each.
- As a team, the Great Danes combined for four multi-base hits - Vilarchao (home run), Petty (double), Petrella (double), and Grahek (double).
- Graduate student Wendi Hammond pitched a complete-game shutout. With three strikeouts, she allowed just two hits and no walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Binghamton opened with a leadoff single.
- UAlbany answered with two consecutive hits from Caitlyn Mitros and Morgan Petty.
- Freshman Mary Kate Murray drove Mitros home with a line drive to left field before graduate student Maddi Petrella hit a double deep into right-center field to bring Petty home.
- Victoria Vilarchao cleared the bases with a home run over the right-center field fence.
- Having made their way through the batting lineup in the first inning, the Bearcats switched pitchers but Mitros and Petty once again opened the inning with two consecutive singles.
- Mitros scored her second run to give the Great Danes a 5-0 lead after two innings.
- Binghamton added what proved to be their second and final hit in the third inning.
- Sara Anderson and Deanna Grahek made it three straight innings in which UAlbany tabbed two consecutive hits to lead off.
- With runners on second and third, Mitros hit her third single of the day to bring in Anderson.
- Petty followed with a two-run double and UAlbany earned an 8-0 advantage after three complete innings.
- Anderson and Grahek combined for three outs, including two popped fouls on the fence, to quickly bring the Great Danes back to the dugout for what proved to be their last time of the day.
- Grahek hit an RBI double for UAlbany's ninth and final run.
- With three outs in three batters, including two strikeouts from Wendi Hammond, the Great Danes earned a nine-run victory in five innings.
NEXT: UAlbany is set for an action-packed week with two midweek doubleheaders (Apr 23, 25) and a weekend road series at UMBC (Apr. 27-28).
