Short Story: UAlbany baseball fell on the road in game two of the series against UMBC, 13-5, Saturday afternoon.

 How it Happened:
  • The Great Danes gave Matthew Mariano the start in game two. Jayden Shertel started for UMBC.
  • The Retrievers took an early advantage with Justin Taylor hitting a two-run shot in the first.
  • Kyle Locklear was brought in to pitch in the second inning by UAlbany.
  • After UMBC loaded the bases in the second inning, Dawson Baracani scored on a sac fly. Anthony Swenda added on with a double driving in two more runs, making it 5-0.
  • In the top of the third, Ryan Ferremi kept the inning alive with a walk. Will Bidner followed up with a two-run blast to left field, reducing the difference to 5-2.
  • Danny Wyatt led off the bottom of the third with a double down the left field line. Nico Ong drove him in with a double. The Retrievers added another on a ground out to second, making it 7-2.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, Luke Boule came in to pitch for the Great Danes.
  • UMBC scored on a wild pitch in the fourth. Baracani singled to left field to bring in the second run of the inning, pushing the Retrievers' lead to 9-2.
  • Nick Remy came in to pitch for UMBC in the fifth inning.
  • Michael DiMartino was called in to pitch from the pen in the sixth inning with one out.
  • The Retrievers slugged three consecutive doubles to add on three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. Derek Paris singled to left field to bring in another. Paris scored on a ground out to shortstop, making it 13-2.
  • UMBC brought in Matt Cunningham to close it out in the ninth.
  • Cooper Loyal reached base on a walk to start the ninth. Justin Hurd mashed his second home run of the season to make it 13-4.
  • Chris Ho came in to pitch for the Retrievers with runners on the corners and one out.
  • With bases loaded, Luke Filippi hit a sac fly to center to score Ferremi.
  • UAlbany fell in a game two, 13-5.
