How it Happened:
- Cregg Scherrer started for the Great Danes in game one. Luke Johnson started for UMBC.
- Anthony Scarabino got the bats going early for UAlbany with a one-out double. Levi McAllister drove him in with a single through the right side, giving the Great Danes an early 1-0 advantage.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, Scherrer kept the Retrievers quiet by striking out the side.
- Dylan Banner came out of the bullpen for UAlbany in the sixth inning.
- In the sixth inning, Anthony Swenda hit a double with one out. Luke Trythall brought him in to score with a single to center field, tying the score at 1-1.
- UMBC loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, Justin Taylor drove in a pair of runs with a double to center field. Matt Ryan followed with a double of his own to bring in another run. Taylor scored on a wild pitch. Swenda added with a double off the wall, making it 6-1.
- The Great Danes brought in Ryan Pittz with a runner on second in the bottom of the seventh.
- Danny Wyatt added an insurance run for UMBC with a double to left field. Dawson Baracani worked a walk to see another run cross the plate. Luke Buscaglia scored on a sac fly. Matthew Best capped off the inning with a three-run home run to left field, making it 12-1.
- Ben Craig was called from the bullpen by the Retrievers in the eighth inning.
- Will Binder started the top of the eighth with a single. Binder came in to score on a ground out by McAllister, making it 12-2.
- Cam Fuer was called in to pitch in the bottom of the eighth for UAlbany.
- The Retrievers brought in Sam Daniels to pitch in the ninth inning.
- UMBC claimed game one of the weekend series, 12-2.
