SHORT STORY: The Great Danes battled but it was NC State taking the day one victory at the Wolfpack Classic, Friday evening.

- Graduate student Maddi Petrella tallied the lone Great Dane hit of the game.
- After earning a base on balls, sophomore Deanna Grahek tabbed one stolen base.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Graduate student Caitlyn Mitros started off the game getting a touch of the ball on the very first pitch, however it ended as a line out to third base.
- The Wolfpack put two on base but the Great Danes were able to hold their opponent scoreless through the first inning.
- Maddi Petrella opened the second inning with the first hit of the season - a single to shortstop.
- After loading the bases in the bottom of the second, an NC State athlete hit into a double play as senior Jordan Nastos caught a fly ball in center field before passing straight to Petrella at home to complete the third out and hold off the run.
- UAlbany loaded the bases with three walks in the top of the third but the team was unable to take advantage and score a run.
- The Wolfpack opened the scoring with six runs in the bottom of the third.
- NC State sealed a possible five-inning win with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
- With two runners on base, Wendi Hammond ended the fourth inning with a strikeout swinging.
- Unable to get on base in the fifth, the Great Danes fell to the Wolfpack, 9-0.
NEXT: UAlbany will continue the Wolfpack Classic with two games on Saturday (NC State & Iona).
