Men's Basketball to Face Georgetown

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men's basketball team will travel to Georgetown University on Saturday, November 30, and take on one of college basketball's most historic programs in the Hoyas.

Scouting the Hoyas
Georgetown is amid a three-game winning streak with its only loss of the season coming against Notre Dame back on Nov 16 by a score of 84-63. As a team, the Hoyas are averaging 74.0 points, 27.3 field goals, 6.8 threes, 12.5 free throws, 38.2 rebounds, 15.5 assists, 11.7 turnovers, and 10.2 steals per game.
 
Thomas Sorber is currently averaging 14.8 points for the Hoyas recording 89 points while shooting 33-58 (.569%) from the field and only 2-8 (.250%) from beyond the arc while sinking 21-30 (.700%) free throws. The freshman forward/center also leads Georgetown in assists (50) and blocks (11) in a total of 159 minutes on the court with five starts in six appearances.
 
Jayden Epps leads the Hoyas offense from behind the three-point line going 15-42 (.357%) while in total going 28-72 (.389%) in field goals. Behind Epps, Micah Peavy has tallied 11-25 (.440%) threes for the team's best three-point average while leading the Hoyas by shooting 33-68 (.485%) from the field for a total of 87 points and 14.5 points per game.

Last Time Out
November 24, 2024 | The Great Danes are coming off a 2-1 trip from Puerto Rico which saw them defeat Puerto Rico – Mayagüez and Kansas City while storming back from a 20-point deficit to a one-possession contest against American. Against the Eagles, Justin Neely was UAlbany's leading scorer with 20 points and seven rebounds shooting 7-11 in the field and 6-8 at the line. Byron Joshua recorded 39 minutes of play, receiving 17 points shooting 5-13 from the field, 1-2 beyond the arc, and 6-6 at the free throw line. Four Great Danes recorded one steal. UAlbany shot 27-60 (45.0%) from the field, 4-13 (30.8%) from the three, and would go 19-26 (73.1%) at the line.
 
New Look Danes
The Great Danes have overhauled its roster for the upcoming season. Returning to UAlbany for the upcoming campaign are Amar'e Marshall joined by Aaron Reddish, Zane Adnan, Bautista Giralt, Zach Matulu, and Justin Neely. Adding on to the Great Danes this year are transfers Sully Adewale, Kheni Briggs, Byron Joshua, Kacper Klaczek, DeMarr Langford Jr., Amir Lindsey, and Damon Strand. Donning the Purple and Gold for their freshmen season will be Amir Lindsey, Ma'Kye Taylor, and Kani Topuz.
 
Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops
Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops is officially back for a third season! Coaches Dwayne Killings and Colleen Mullen, along with select student-athletes, will join ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team's Charlie Voelker and Dan Bahl every Monday from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. live from City Line Bar & Grill for a weekly segment entitled 'Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops'. 
 
Fans are invited to come out to City Line Bar & Grill to join Coach Killings, Coach Mullen, student-athletes, and the ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team crew. Food and drink specials will be available every week as the teams embark on their new seasons and talk hoops every Monday. 
 
Postgame Show
The UAlbany Basketball Post game Show returns this season to 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio. The show will begin immediately following all games, home and away, for fans to listen to as they commute home or tune in from a distance.
 
The show is set to run for 30 minutes following the final buzzer on 104.5 The Team. Fans will hear initial reactions and a game recap to start the segment followed by interviews with the team. Coach Dwayne Killings and select student-athletes will join ESPN Radio's Rodger Wyland and Michael Johnson Jr. to break down the contest, give insights, opinions, and responses, and discuss the team's next match up.
 
Fans can tune in to ESPN Radio 104.5 the Team by turning the dial on their radio or by streaming on their computers or smartphones.
 
Free for Students
UAlbany students can attend UAlbany basketball home games all season long for FREE by claiming a ticket through the UAlbany Sports Mobile App which can be downloaded on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Note: UAlbany Athletics is no longer utilizing UAlbany IDs as a form of entry for ticketed events.
 
Holiday Hoopla: UAlbany's men's basketball will host its Holiday Hoopla on Wednesday, December 4th vs Columbia in the team's first 6:30 pm tipoff time of the season. Holiday Hoopla will be a great gift this holiday season for all with 4 for $50 ticket deals while the first 500 students in attendance will receive a FREE UAlbany Basketball "Hoopin for the Holiday's" Ugly Holiday Sweater T-Shirt. Going into the contest Columbia will be 8-0 on the season and currently holds one of the NCAA's longest current winning streaks.
