Head Coach Greg Gattuso: "Super proud of the kids. The way they fought to get back into the game, kept playing… It's a gutsy win. It's the kind of thing that's really important at the end of the season that has been tough like this… That's a tough hole to dig out of."

How it Happened:
  • UAlbany's Jamal Cooney wasn't able to handle the opening kickoff, giving Hampton the ball at the UAlbany 20-yard line to start the game.
  • The short field allowed Hampton's Tymere Robinson to rush for a touchdown from three yards out that put the Pirates up 7-0 less than two minutes into the contest.
  • With 5:31 remaining in the first quarter, Will Hicks of Hampton intercepted a pass and took it to the UAlbany two-yard line, which led to Robinson's second rushing touchdown of the game to make it 14-0.
  • Robinson extended the lead when he capped off a 10-play, 68-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown, his third of the game, making it 21-0 with six minutes left in the first half.
  • Hampton scored again when Robinson found the end zone for a fourth time from 16 yards out to put the Pirates up 28-0 with 4:47 left in the half.
  • UAlbany was able to score its first points of the game when Van Weber found Carter Moses for a 12-yard pass to top off a seven-play, 64-yard drive to make it 28-7 with just over two minutes left in the half.
  • 21 seconds before halftime, Hampton lined up for a field goal but missed wide right to keep the score at 28-7 heading into the locker room.
  • The Great Danes struck first in the second half when James Bozek made a 31-yard field goal to make it 28-10 with 5:41 left in the third. It was his first made field goal as a Great Dane.
  • Dontae Lunan recovered a fumble from a bad handoff with 2:57 left in the third quarter to give UAlbany the ball on its 28.
  • Following the turnover, Van Weber hit Jackson Parker for a 38-yard touchdown on a flea flicker to make it 28-17 with under a minute left in the third.
  • On the ensuing drive, UAlbany's Nick Totten picked off a pass and took it back 38 yards to the end zone for a touchdown. The Great Danes went for two and converted to make it 28-25 less than a minute into the fourth. The interception was the first of Totten's career.
  • Hampton answered back quickly when Malcolm Mays scored on a 25-yard run with 9:55 left in the game. The PAT was blocked and returned 99 yards by Kevon Angry for two points for UAlbany, making the score 34-27.
  • UAlbany was able to tie it up at 34 when Alex Jreige broke off a 53-yard touchdown rush with 7:45 left in the game.
  • On Hamptons next play on offense, UAlbany's Jack Luliano recovered a fumble on a bad handoff to give UAlbany the ball on the Pirates' 24-yard line.
  • The Great Danes were able to capitalize on the turnover and found the end zone on a two-yard rush by Jojo Uga to put UAlbany up 41-34.
  • Hampton took over on offense with 57 seconds left with no timeouts, but the UAlbany defense held firm.
