Men’s Basketball Head to Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Clasico

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men's basketball team will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico this week to play in the Puerto Rico Classico where they will face Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on November 22 at 1:00 pm, Kansas City on November 23 at 1:00 pm, and American on November 24 at 12:00 pm.

Scouting Puerto Rico-Mayagüez
The Tarzan's recently matched up against the Minot State Beavers of NCAA Division II on November 16, 2024, which saw them fall short 89-67 [Full Box Score]. Jose Alicea was the Tarzan's leading scorer with 15 points shooting 4-10 and 3-7 from the three-point line. Dariel Perez recorded 14 points going 4-6 from the field and 6-7 from the charity stripe with two rebounds, one block, and one steal. Giovanni Uselis, Carlos Rivera, and Jose Alicea all led the Tarzan's with three rebounds.
 
Scouting Kansas City
Kansas City has an overall record of 3-2 starting off by averaging 89.2 points, 30.4 field goals, 11.8 three's, 16.6 free throws, 44.4 rebounds, 17.0 assists, 10.4 turnovers, 15 steals and 3.8 blocks per game.
 
With 89 points Jamar Brown leads the Roos by shooting 33-68 (.485%) in field goals and 10-26 (.385%) from the three. In addition, he leads the team with 47 rebounds, 12 steals and six assists for three blocks. He's tied with Cameron Faas with 12 steals who's also the team's leader in threes with 12 from beyond the arc. Kasheem Grady II leads with 15 assists.

The Eagles are off to a 1-4 overall starting and in the midst of a three-game losing streak falling most recently to High Point by a score of 80-73. The team is averaging per game 62.6 points, 22.8 field goals, 8.2 three's 27.2 rebounds, 10.6 turnovers, four steals and two blocks.
 
Matt Rodgers leads American with 72 points shooting 29-62 (.468%) from the field for a14.4ppg, and 8-22 (.364%) from the three. He's totaled 24 rebounds and three assists with three steals and two blocks. Ahead of Rodgers in rebounds is Lincoln Ball with 25 who 's also recorded just eight points in five games. At guard Elijah Stephens is the teams leader in assists with 15 and has recorded 50 points averaging 12.5 per game
 
New Look Danes
The Great Danes have overhauled its roster for the upcoming season. Returning to UAlbany for the upcoming campaign is Amar'e Marshall joined by Aaron ReddishZane AdnanBautista GiraltZach Matulu, and Justin Neely. Adding on to the Great Danes this year are transfers Sully AdewaleKheni BriggsByron JoshuaKacper KlaczekDeMarr Langford Jr.Amir Lindsey, and Damon Strand. Donning the Purple and Gold for their freshmen season are Amir LindseyMa'Kye Taylor, and Kani Topuz.
 
Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops
Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops is officially back for a third season! Coaches Dwayne Killings and Colleen Mullen, along with select student-athletes, will join ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team's Charlie Voelker and Dan Bahl every Monday from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. live from City Line Bar & Grill for a weekly segment entitled 'Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops'. 
 
Fans are invited to come out to City Line Bar & Grill to join Coach Killings, Coach Mullen, student-athletes, and the ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team crew. Food and drink specials will be available every week as the teams embark on their new seasons and talk hoops every Monday. 
 
Postgame Show
The UAlbany Basketball Postgame Show returns this season to 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio. The show will begin immediately following all games, home and away, for fans to listen to as they commute home or tune in from a distance.
 
The show is set to run for 30 minutes following the final buzzer on 104.5 The Team. Fans will hear initial reactions and a game recap to start the segment followed by interviews with the team. Coach Dwayne Killings and select student-athletes will join ESPN Radio's Rodger Wyland and Michael Johnson Jr. to break down the contest, give insights, opinions, and responses, and discuss the team's next matchup.
 
Fans can tune in to ESPN Radio 104.5 the Team by turning the dial on their radio or by streaming on their computers or smartphones.

UAlbany students can attend UAlbany basketball home games all season long for FREE by claiming a ticket through the UAlbany Sports Mobile App which can be downloaded on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
