ALBANY, N.Y. - The UAlbany volleyball team returns home to host Siena in a midweek contest.
The Great Danes and the Saints will be collecting school supplies in a combined effort to give back to the local community. All school supplies donated on the night of their contest will be given to local Albany schools.

LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
- The Great Danes played three matches at the Patriot Invite hosted by George Mason (Sept. 15-16).
- On Friday, September 15, UAlbany defeated the host, George Mason, in four sets. Redshirt-sophomore Kendall Harris led the team with 15 kills and redshirt-sophomore Shynelle Woroniuk earned her first career double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs.
- The Great Danes competed in two games on Saturday (Sept. 16). UAlbany fell to MTSU in the early game before going down 3-1 to Seattle. Woroniuk tallied a career-high 21 kills and her second double-double with an additional 11 digs against Seattle.
- Overall, Woroniuk led the weekend with 39 kills (3.5/set). On defense, Sthefany Carvalho tallied 33 digs (3/set) and freshman Campbell Robinson led with five blocks.
GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany holds a 3-9 record on the season.
- The Great Danes started their season with a three-set sweep over Syracuse (Aug. 25).
- Following the win, UAlbany played close sets against Navy (Aug. 26) and UCF (Aug. 27) to close the UAlbany Invitational.
- The Great Danes moved to 1-5 after three losses at the Chippewa Invitational (Sept. 1-2).
- After closing out the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament with a split, UAlbany moved to 2-7. The Great Danes' second win came over Cornell in four sets (Sept. 9).
- UAlbany earned their third win in a four-set victory over George Mason (Sept.15) at the Patriot Invite.
- Shynelle Woroniuk leads with 3.22 kills per set and 3.47 points per set.
- On defense, Sthefany Carvalho has tallied 3.15 digs per set for a team-high.
- Junior Zosia Szczotkiewicz and freshman Emilia Kuzniar have shared time as the team's starting setter. Szczotkiewicz holds the lead with 8.78 assists per set compared to Kuzniar's 7.83.
- Carvalho, sophomore Anna Myhal, and senior Elisavet Papageorgiou are all tied with a team-high 10 service aces this season.
- Freshman Gabriella Karman is the only player with over 20 blocks on the season. Karman has 23 blocks, including four solo blocks, while sophomore Tori Wilson is close behind with 19 blocks, including four solo blocks.
INTERNATIONAL APPEAL
- The UAlbany coaching staff is constantly at work to represent different cultures and countries on their roster each year.
- The 2023 roster traveled a total of 32,597 miles from their homes to UAlbany.
- Seven different countries and five different states within the USA are included on the 14-person roster.
IN THE RANKINGS

- Five Great Danes hold positions in the top statistical rankings within the America East.
ABOUT SIENA
- The Saints are 1-10 on the season with a 1-1 conference record.
- Siena opened their season with three three-match invitationals - the Hofstra Invitational (Aug. 25-26), the Bryant Invitational (Sept. 1-2), and the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic (Sept. 8-9).
- The Saints earned their first win beating Saint Peter's in three sets (9.12)
- Most recently, Siena traveled to Marist where they lost in straight sets (9.15).
- Junior Sara Wagner leads the team with 2.57 kills per set, 3.22 points per set, and 20 service aces.
- Emily Wood leads the defense with 2.21 digs per set.
- Averaging 0.81 per set, Sina Toroslu holds the team-high in blocks with 30.
- Meghan Johnsson and Oliwia Majtyka have split time as Siena's primary setter. Johnsson holds the lead with 3.43 assists per set over Majtyka's 3.14 assists per set.
SERIES AGAINST THE SAINTS
- The Great Danes hold a 14-4 lead over Siena in the all-time series.
- UAlbany currently has a four-match win streak against the Saints.
- In their last matchup, UAlbany defeated Siena in four sets. Returning student-athlete Anna Myhal had eight kills and 11 digs in the match on September 27, 2022.

- New Hampshire leads the conference with a .615 win percentage (8-5).
- UMBC follows close behind with a .600 win percentage (6-4) while Bryant trails in third (8-7).
