Head Coach Trevor Gorman: "Tough loss to a good Penn team. We had spurts of the game where we did some good things, but it wasn't our best day at the office. I'm confident this group will rebound and deliver performances in the next matches that show the kind of team that we are and that we can be."

How it HappenedÂ
- Following the rescheduling of two-straight games, the University at Albany men's soccer program returned to their original schedule with a visit to Philadelphia to take on the defending Ivy League champion Penn Quakers. Penn had won 13 games last year and advanced a round in the NCAA Tournament, but one of their three losses on the season came in Albany, 1-0, to the Great Danes.
- Penn broke through early, in the 11th minute, when Stas Korzeniowski beat UAlbany goalkeeper Shafique Wilson to the bottom left corner, off a setup by Michael Hewes, to put the Quakers up 1-0.
- UAlbany scored an equalizer in the 20th minute. Alex Pechacek, again off a corner kick, found freshman midfielder Ivar Orri Gissurarson crashing towards the goal line. Gissurarson connected with the ball and sent it into the back of the net for his first career goal.
- Penn drew a penalty kick in the 42nd minute after a UAlbany foul in their box. Mateo Zazueta stepped up to take the attempt and converted to put the Quakers back ahead, 2-1.
- Wilson saved a third goal in the first half for the Quakers, making a diving save on a shot towards the far post by Ben Do. The ball bounced away from Wilson, but out for a goal kick.
- Penn took the same 2-1 lead into halftime, having outshot the Great Danes by a margin of 10-3, but the UAlbany defense had only allowed four of the Quakers' shots on target. UAlbany had drawn two corner kicks in the first half, while Penn managed only one.
- Penn added a third goal in the 73rd minute, the second of the night from Korzeniowski. The Great Danes had rallied in the second half to outshoot the Quakers 6-4, but held a 14-9 deficit for the game, and managed just one of their nine shots on target, Gissurarson's goal.
Next: UAlbany hosts Lafayette on September 19.
