Binghamton Takes Rubber Game from Baseball

Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team fell to Binghamton, 12-5, in the final game of the weekend series. 
 
Head Coach Jon Mueller: "Too many free passes. We were too sloppy on defense and that opened up a couple big innings we were unable to recover from. Moving on to next weekend."

How it Happened:
  • Joseph Tobia started on the mound for the Great Danes, Ryan Bryggman started for Binghamton.
  • The Bearcats scored six runs in the second inning to take an early lead. Four of the runs scored were unearned.    
  • The Great Danes grabbed two runs in the second inning. Chris Fisher walked with the bases loaded to bring in Luke Filippi and Jason Bottari brought home Justin Hurd on a fielder's choice. Midway through the inning, Kyle Eskildsen took the mound for Binghamton.
  • Nicholas Jessen came in to pitch for UAlbany to start the third.
  • Binghamton's Roselli hit a three-run home run in the fourth, knocking Jessen out of the game. He was replaced my Michael DiMartino with the Bearcats up 9-2.
  • UAlbany added a run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI groundout, scoring Chris Fisher.
  • Thomas Quinn took the mound for UAlbany to start the sixth.
  • Binghamton made it 10-3 on an RBI single in the sixth off the bat of Stellrecht.
  • Dan McAliney took the mound for Binghamton to start the bottom of the sixth.
  • Cam Fuer entered the game for UAlbany in the seventh.
  • The Great Danes scored two runs in the eighth inning – Will Feil singled to bring home Fisher and Josh Salandy hit one up the middle to score Feil.
  • Binghamton added two runs in the ninth to pad the lead and make it 12-5.
