Key Stats  Head Coach Katie Thomson: "This was an awesome team win and a great way to conclude our west coast trip.  We are proud of the team's awareness, ability to make plays in pressure moments, and their support for each other.  We look forward to regrouping this weekend as we prepare for our game against UConn."

How it Happened
  • The University at Albany women's lacrosse program played its second and final game of its California trip, against UC Davis.  On Sunday, UAlbany found itself on the short end of a 21-20 loss at #18 Stanford, in which the Cardinal rallied from a 14-8 halftime deficit.  Shonly Wallace led the Great Danes against Stanford with seven goals.
  • As they did against Stanford, UAlbany's offense struck quickly, with Bryar Hogg setting up both Allie Maloney and Ava Poupard within the first three minutes to take a 2-0 lead.  UC Davis first got on the board mid-way through the first, sparking a five-goal run to lead by three with 2:05 left in the quarter.
  • Katie Pascale scored with just 12 seconds on the clock to close the first quarter with the Great Danes trailing by two, 5-3.  Pascale's goal initiated a four-goal run UAlbany, including back-to-back goals from Sarah Falk 42 seconds apart to retake the lead, 6-5.
  • After trading three goals, UC Davis scored two-straight to take an 8-7 lead late in the second quarter.  Pascale tied the game with just over a minute remaining, but UC Davis broke through one last time to lead 9-8 lead at the break.
  • UC Davis opened the third quarter on a 3-0 run to lead 12-8 with 10:18 remaining in the period.  After setting up three of her teammates, Hogg found the back of the net herself to end the Aggies' run.  Wallace followed up Hogg's goal to bring UAlbany within two less than 50 seconds later.
  • UC Davis briefly interrupted UAlbany's run to go up 13-10 before the Great Danes rolled off each of the next three to tie the game at 13.  The Aggies scored to open the fourth and take a 14-13 lead, followed by a four-goal UAlbany run, allowing the Great Danes to take the lead for good.  UAlbany's run ultimately extended to 9-2 over a span of 15:10 of game time.
  • UC Davis scored once more, with 4:02 remaining, to bring the final score to 17-15 in favor of UAlbany.  The Great Danes had outshot the Aggies 37-24, including 19-10 after halftime.  Additionally, UAlbany outdrew UC Davis 16-11, including 6-1 in the fourth quarter.
  • Wallace finished with five goals and one assist, which, when combined with her output from the Stanford game, bring her to a total of 13 points on the team's trip to California, while Pascale scored 11 behind eight goals and three assists.
Next: UAlbany visits UConn on March 22.
