• Hosting Bryant and UMBC, UAlbany earned a split on the weekend. 
• The Great Danes fell to the Bulldogs after winning the first set. 
• Redshirt-sophomore Shynelle Woroniuk finished the game with 10 kills and junior Sthefany Carvalho recorded a team-best nine digs.
• UAlbany earned their first conference win after defeating UMBC on Sunday.

GREAT DANE REWIND

• UAlbany holds a 6-11 record on the year and is 1-2 in conference.
• The Great Danes started their season with a three-set sweep over Syracuse (Aug. 25). 
• Following the win, UAlbany played close sets against Navy (Aug. 26) and UCF (Aug. 27) to close the UAlbany Invitational.
• The Great Danes moved to 1-5 after three losses at the Chippewa Invitational (Sept. 1-2) before adding one win, over Cornell (Sept. 9), and two losses at the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament.
• UAlbany earned their third win in a four-set victory over George Mason (Sept.15) at the Patriot Invite.
• The Great Danes won back-to-back matches defeating Siena (Sept. 20) and Sacred Heart (Sept. 27) before beginning conference play.
• After falling to NJIT (Oct. 1) and Bryant (Oct. 6), the Great Danes earned their first conference victory defeating UMBC (Oct. 8) in five sets. 
• Shynelle Woroniuk leads the team with 3.04 kills per set and 3.37 points per set.
• On defense, Sthefany Carvalho holds the team-high with 3.24 digs per set.
• Senior Elisavet Papageorgiou leads the Great Danes with 17 service aces.
• Gabriella Karman has recorded 47 blocks this season (0.96/set), with 10 solo blocks, while sophomore Tori Wilson trails with 33, including five solo.
• The team's primary setter, Zosia Szczotkiewicz leads with 363 assists in 51 sets (8.85/set).

ABOUT BINGHAMTON

• The Bearcats possess a 10-8 record and are 3-0 in conference play.
• Binghamton won their first three matches at the Bearcat Classic defeating Merrimack (Aug. 25), Duquesne (Aug. 26), and Saint Peter's (Aug. 26).
• The Bearcats were held winless at the Buffalo Invite falling to Montana (Aug. 31), DePaul (Sept. 1), and Buffalo (Sept. 2).  
• Defeating Le Moyne (Sept. 5), Binghamton won its first midweek match. 
• At the Lehigh Classic, the Bearcats won their first two matches against Fairleigh Dickinson (Sept. 8) and Lehigh (Sept. 9) before losing to Delaware State (Sept. 9).
• After falling to Brown (Sept. 16), UConn (Sept. 16), Michigan State (Sept. 17), and Colgate (Oct. 8), Binghamton began conference play with three wins over NJIT (Sept. 29), New Hampshire (Oct. 6), and Bryant (Oct. 8).

SERIES AGAINST THE BEARCATS

• The Great Danes leads the all-time series, 35-14.
• UAlbany squared off against the Bearcats twice last season with each team winning their home contest.
• Winning in five sets on October 21, the Great Danes fell in three in Vestal (Nov. 6).
• Returning student-athlete Anna Myhal tallied 20 kills and six digs in the UAlbany victory.
• The Great Danes have not lost at home to Binghamton since October 2016.

 
A NEW BEGINNING

• The Great Danes welcome nine newcomers with five returning student-athletes. 
• Sophomore Anna Myhal returns after having been the only Great Dane to start all 27 matches in 2022. 
• Senior Naliah Grannell and redshirt-sophomore Shynelle Woroniuk return with double-digit starts as a blocker and outside hitter, respectively.
• Sophomores Zosia Szczotkiewicz and Brooke Malek add valuable experience as a setter and on defense, respectively.
• Among the newcomers are mid-year transfers Kendall Harris (Coastal Carolina) and Elisavet Papageorgiou (Eastern Illinois). Gabriella Karman (NC State), Sthefany Carvalho (MSU-West Plains), and Tori Wilson (NC Central) joined the team from their respective schools ahead of the fall semester.
• UAlbany also added four freshmen: Nicole Bell, Emilia Kuzniar, Campbell Robinson, and Kyrah Wilbur.

 
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST

• Binghamton sits first on the ladder after remaining undefeated in conference play.
• UMBC trails having recorded two conference wins and one loss.
• With each of the remaining teams having tallied their first win in just two weeks of conference play, UAlbany, New Hampshire, Bryant, and NJIT share a 1-2 record.
• Overall, New Hampshire leads with an 11-7 record (6.11).
• Trailing is UMBC and Bryant who share a .571 win percentage followed by Binghamton with .556.
• NJIT (7-10) and UAlbany (6-11) sit below .500.
