GREAT DANE REWIND
- The Great Danes opened their home slate with a four-set win over Marist (9/13).
- UAlbany returned from the Cornell Invitational (Sept. 9-10) with two wins and one loss. The Great Danes defeated Temple in four sets before beating the host, Cornell, in five. Colgate took the final match of the weekend in four sets.
- Facing top-tier teams, including #11 Penn State, UAlbany added competition at invitationals hosted by JMU (Aug. 26-27), Navy (Sept. 2-3), and Penn State (Sept. 16-17).
- Most recently, the Great Danes faced crosstown rival Siena (9/27), winning in four sets, after falling to Chicago State (9/25).
- Throughout the season, sophomore Alexa Harris has come to lead the Great Danes with 3.15 kills per set while junior Hannah Rowe follows with 2.78 kills per set.
- On defense, libero Charlotte Macken leads with 4.19 digs per set.
- Harris leads the team with 33.0 blocks and junior Sadie Brown follows behind with 32.0 blocks. Sophomore Anissia Wong holds a team-high nine solo blocks.
- Senior Malea Stanton leads the Great Danes with 386 assists, averaging 8.39 assists per set.
ABOUT NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Wildcats opened the 2022 season at the Holly Young Invitational (Aug. 26-27) only losing one set in their four matches against Merrimack, St. Francis Brooklyn, St. Peters, and Hartford.
- New Hampshire also participated in the Villanova (Sept. 2-7), Tennessee (Sept. 9-10), and George Mason (Sept. 16-17) tournaments, finishing with a record of 5-5.
- UNH added two wins with mid-week matches against Holy Cross (9/7) and Merrimack (9/21).
- Hannah Serbousek leads the offense with 2.82 kills per set.
- Avery LePore (2.72 digs per set) and Kara Oxenknecht (50.0 total blocks) lead the team's defense.
- The Wildcats have three different setters leading the team. Camryn Honn has totaled a team-high 164 assists while Wren Macauley leads with 5.33 assists per set. Jamison White follows with 4.33 assists per set.
SERIES AGAINST THE WILDCATS
- The Great Danes lead the series 30-28.
- UAlbany and New Hampshire went against each other three times throughout the 2021 season. The most recent of which was the America East Semifinal where the Great Danes won, 3-0.
- Splitting the 2021 season, both the Wildcats and the Great Danes earned a victory in the regular season.
ABOUT NJIT
- The Highlanders opened the 2022 season with a loss to Northern Illinois (8/26), followed by losses to UIC (8/26) and South Dakota State (8/27).
- NJIT notched its first win over St. Peters in three sets before suffering a four-game losing streak to LIU (9/2), Bucknell (9/3), George Washington (9/3), and FDU (9/6)
- Most recently, NJIT has picked up three wins against Iona (9/21), Hartford (9/23), and Manhattan (9/27) only losing two sets across three matches.
- Asher Vallone leads the offense with 2.54 kills per set.
- Doga Emil (3.98 digs per set) and Courtney Branch (63.0 total blocks) lead the team's defensive maneuvers.
- Totaling 457 assists, Juliana Impaglia leads the Highlanders with 7.75 assists per set.
SERIES AGAINST THE HIGHLANDERS
- The Great Danes lead the series, 3-1.
- The Highlanders' only win in the series came from a UAlbany forfeit in the spring of 2021.
- Throughout the 2021 season, UAlbany won both matches. On October 10, the Great Danes visited NJIT for a 3-1 victory before hosting the Highlanders for a three-set sweep on October 29.
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
- America East Conference play has yet to begin. The first conference matchup is between UAlbany and New Hampshire on Friday, September 30.
- New Hampshire sits at the top of the America East with a record of 10-5 while Binghamton follows with nine wins and four losses.
- Bryant (10-7) and UMBC (7-5) round out the teams with a winning record ahead of conference play.
- NJIT (6-12) and UAlbany (4-11) round out the pack.
