Head Coach Sade Ayinde: "I am really proud of our team for getting our first road win. Two fantastic goals from Olivia to put us ahead as well as all of our players battling through 90 minutes against a competitive UNH side made all the difference. Hopefully we can build off of this result and get two more wins at home this week."
How it Happened
- Olivia Piraino nearly had a goal within the first 10 minutes after breaking through the New Hampshire defense and testing Wildcats' goalkeeper Cat Sheppard. Sheppard made a kick save to prevent an early goal.
- In the 26th minute, New Hampshire's Whitney Wiley took a high shot that nearly got past UAlbany goalkeeper Megan Hart, but the shot bounced off the crossbar and out of danger.
- Piraino broke through in the 32nd minute, launching a shot from outside the New Hampshire box and over Sheppard, who could not slide over fast enough to intercept the shot.
- UAlbany outshot New Hampshire 7-5 in the first half and held the same 1-0 advantage heading into the break following Piraino's first goal.
- Piraino scored again in the 55th minute, finding herself deep in New Hampshire territory near the baseline. She took a shot falling away and into the far side netting to put UAlbany up 2-0.
- New Hampshire scored in the 82nd minute on a chaotic play in the box where Hart was able to get a hand on the ball but unable to secure it, allowing the Wildcats to cut their deficit in half. UAlbany's defense held tough through the final minutes and secured the 2-1 victory, their first on the road this season.Â
Next: UAlbany hosts Siena on September 22.
