Head Coach Trevor Gorman: "It's always gut-wrenching when something happens in the last seconds that goes against you.  We played well tonight and had a win with less than a minute to go before a fluky play that gives them a lifeline.  That can be how our sport goes sometimes, even if we don't like it.  Plenty of positives are there and we push on to another big challenge Tuesday night."

How it Happened
  • UAlbany's best chance to score in the first half came in the 24th minute when Max Wilhelm ripped a shot from the left side, beat Dartmouth goalkeeper Costi Christodoulou wide, but the shot missed the mark just wide of the far post.
  • Dartmouth had its best scoring chance of the first half soon after in the 30th minute.  Their first shot from the penalty kick marker was blocked by the UAlbany defense but pulled Great Danes' goalkeeper Shafique Wilson out of position.  On the rebound, Dartmouth faced an open net, but Wilson recovered to make the save on the line.
  • The game remained scoreless at halftime.  UAlbany had outshot Dartmouth 11-6 in the first 45 minutes, and their aggressive pressure led to five offsides calls.  The Great Danes also controlled 52% of the early possession.
  • Domenic Baumann nearly had a goal in the 49th minute when his first shot ricocheted back to him but he could not get another shot off before Dartmouth retook possession from him.
  • UAlbany drew a corner kick in the 75th minute.  Baumann served the ball into the box towards Andrew Weiner, who redirected the serve with his head.  Christodoulou got a hand on the header and covered the ball, ending the threat from the Great Danes.
  • Another corner in the 77th minute saw Weiner recover a rebound on a punch out from Christodoulou.  His shot missed the mark, but the ball did not come under control until it bounced to Sam Philip, who sent it back to Weiner, whose second shot in this sequence did find the back of the net to put UAlbany up 1-0.
  • With less than 20 seconds remaining, Dartmouth drew a foul in the UAlbany box and was awarded a penalty kick.  David Alino successfully converted his attempt to tie the game in the 90th minute, with 13 seconds remaining on the clock.
  • The game finished in a 1-1 tie.  UAlbany continued to outshoot Dartmouth in the second half at a rate of 7-5, for an overall advantage of 18-11 over the full 90 minutes.
