SHORT STORY: The Great Danes defeated Marist in four sets to open their home slate, Tuesday night.
COACH JOSH PICKARD: "The team performed well tonight. It was a great opening crowd and I'm excited for the support they showed the team. We passed the ball well and that really helped us to stay in system and attack at a high level."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Great Danes grabbed an early 5-2 lead but Marist tacked on four unanswered points to take the lead, 6-5.
- UAlbany went on a 7-2 scoring run to gain a 12-8 advantage that would not be given up.
- With a 3-0 scoring run the lead was held at 17-11 and the Great Danes closed the first set with a 4-0 scoring run to make it 25-17.
- The second set started out closer but UAlbany quickly worked for a seven-point advantage, 15-8.
- A five-point scoring run sealed the deal as the Great Danes won the set, 25-15.
- The third set proved to be more of a back-and-forth. Only three scoring runs (of at least three points) were tallied.
- The Great Danes owned an early 7-4 lead after adding four unanswered points but Red Foxes took the set with two scoring runs, including a 5-0 run to end the set, 25-21.
- Trading points back-and-forth, the point gap remained small until after being tied at 11.
- With three 3-0 scoring runs, UAlbany grabbed the advantage and took the set win, 25-18, and subsequently the match, 3-1.
NEXT: The Great Danes will head to Pennsylvania for their final tournament of the season, Sept. 16-17.
