GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany opened the season at the JMU Invitational in Virginia.
- In each of the three matches, the Great Danes won one set.
- Throughout the weekend, newcomer Alexa Harris led the Great Danes with 4.00 kills per set while freshman Anna Myhal followed with 2.83 kills per set.
- On defense, libero Charlotte Macken led with 3.50 digs per set and Myhal followed with 2.08 digs per set.
- Sophomore Anissia Wong tallied 10.0 total blocks with three solo blocks.
- Freshman Zosia Szczotkiewicz started two matches and notched 8.80 assists per set.
- Last season, the Great Danes finished with an 8-4 league record before closing the season at the America East Championship.
- UAlbany returned eight student-athletes, including three starters, and add nine newcomers - Cassidy Bloom, Sadie Brown, Zeynep Ertam, Kaleigh Fitzgerald, Alexa Harris, Brooke Malek, Anna Myhal, Macey Salvione, and Zosia Szczotkiewicz.
ABOUT MICHIGAN STATE
- The Spartans opened their 2022 campaign by hosting a tournament that led to three victories.
- Taking two matches in five sets and one in three, MSU saw Louisiana, Eastern Michigan, and Fairfield.
- Aliyah Moore leads the team with 3.46 kills per set; Maradith O'Gorman follows with 3.23 while adding six service aces, a team-high.
- On defense, Nalani Iosia leads with 4.15 digs per set and Emma Monks owns the team high with 15.0 blocks.
SERIES AGAINST THE SPARTANS
- Michigan State leads the all-time series, 3-0.
- The Spartans took all three matches in three sets during former head coach MJ Engstrom's time at the helm.
- The first meeting was in 2009 with the most recent being in 2018.
ABOUT VCU
- The Rams opened their 2022 campaign by hosting a tournament that led to one win and two losses.
- VCU defeated Liberty in four sets and fell in three sets to High Point and four sets to Elon.
- Jasmine leads the team with 3.36 kills per set; Qairo Bentley follows with 2.36 while adding four service aces, a team-high.
- On defense, Kialah Jefferson leads with 3.43 digs per set and Knight owns a team-high 11.0 total blocks.

- UAlbany and VCU have met four times since 2003 with the series being tied
- The Great Danes won the first two meetings, under the direction of Kelly Sheffield.
- Most recently, under Engstrom, UAlbany fell in 2010 and 2012.
ABOUT NAVY
- The Midshipmen opened the 2022 campaign at Maryland in College Park, Md.
- Seeing FGCU, Maryland, and Rhode Island, the Mids earned their sole win over Rhode Island in four sets.
- Jamie Llewellyn leads the team with 3.55 kills per set and five service aces; Jordan Llewellyn follows with 3.36 kills per set.
- Both Llewellyn sisters lead on defense - Jamie with 1.82 digs per set and Jordan with 1.73.
- Maggie Bodman owns a team-high 14.0 total blocks.
SERIES AGAINST THE MIDSHIPMEN
- UAlbany and Navy have met just once before, in 2002.
- Under the direction of Kelly Sheffield, the Great Danes earned a three-set sweep over the host school.
