Head Coach Katie Thomson: "Yale is a really strong program and they're hungry to play after not playing for so long and just having one game under their belts this year.  I thought they did a good job throughout the game.  I don't think we fully played up to our potential, but we saw some good sparks throughout the game and we'll just get better from this one."

How it Happened
  • Yale, playing in its second game of the season and second since March 12, 2020, notched the first goal of the game within the first minute to take an early 1-0 lead.  UAlbany responded by scoring each of the next three, including two from Sarah Falk in a preview of the high-scoring night she would have.
  • Falk scored her third goal of the first quarter with 5:58 remaining to put UAlbany up 5-2, their largest lead of the night.  Yale scored the next three-straight to tie the game at five.
  • Kathryn Sancilio, who finished with a hat trick, scored to break up what became a 5-1 Yale run, with 21 seconds remaining in the first.  Mid-way through the second quarter, Drexel took a 7-6 lead.
  • Yale ended the first half leading 8-7, and scored the first goal out of the break to go up by two.  UAlbany clawed back quickly, with Falk scoring two goals within 14 seconds of each other to tie the game at 10 mid-way through the third.
  • The Bulldogs responded just over a minute later, igniting a three-goal run to go up 13-10 with 4:23 left in the third.  Hailey Carroll and Sancilio closed the gap to one by the end of the third, scoring with 35 seconds and 22 seconds remaining in the quarter, respectively.
  • Yale scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter, ultimately putting the game out of reach, taking a 15-12 lead.  UAlbany scored twice more, including a seventh goal of the night from Falk, but the Bulldogs added one final insurance goal with 1:40 remaining to clinch the game with a final score of 16-14.
Game Notes
  • Sarah Falk's seven goal performance is the 16th in program history, ranking tied for fifth for a single-game effort.  The all-time record is 10 goals by Sarah Martin, also against Yale, during the 2017 season.
  • Falk's nine total points fall just shy of the single-game record of 11 held by four Great Danes, most recently Sarah Martin and Emma Powlin at two different points in the 2017 season.
Next: UAlbany visits Hofstra on March 12.
