GREAT DANE REWIND
- The Great Danes opened their home slate with a four-set win over Marist (9/13).
- UAlbany returned from the Cornell Invitational (Sept. 9-10) with two wins and one loss. The Great Danes defeated Temple in four sets before beating the host, Cornell, in five. Colgate took the final match of the weekend in four sets.
- Facing top-tier teams, including #11 Penn State, UAlbany added competition at invitationals hosted by JMU (Aug. 26-27), Navy (Sept. 2-3), and Penn State (Sept. 16-17).
- The Great Danes faced crosstown rival Siena (9/27), winning in four sets, after falling to Chicago State (9/25). In an away match, UAlbany swept Stonehill (10/6) for their sixth win.
- Starting home conference play, the Great Danes defeated NJIT (10/2) in three sets after a four-set loss to New Hampshire (9/30). UAlbany added losses to Bryant (10/7) and UMBC (10/16).
- Most recently, the Great Danes grabbed a thrilling five-set win over Binghamton (10/21), before falling to Bryant (10/23) and NJIT (10/30) in hard-fought matches.
- With 261 kills, sophomore Alexa Harris has come to lead the Great Danes on offense, averaging 3.07 kills per set.
- On defense, senior libero Charlotte Macken with 4.15 digs per set.
- Sophomore Anissia Wong leads the team in blocks with 54, including a team-high 12 solo blocks. Junior Naliah Grannell follows closely with 45 total blocks.
- Senior Malea Stanton serves as the Great Danes' starting setter tallying 651 assists, averaging 8.24 per set.
- Junior Kaleigh Fitzgerald holds a team-high 33 service aces.
ABOUT BINGHAMTON
- The Bearcats own an overall record of 14-7 and a 5-2 record in the America East.
- Binghamton opened their season hosting the Bearcat Classic (8/26-27), finishing with a 2-1 record. The Bearcats picked up wins against Maryland Eastern Shore and Siena and suffered a loss to Boston College.
- Binghamton went 3-0 at the Central Connecticut State Tournament (9/2-3), beating CCSU, Colombia, and St. Peters, three sets each.
- Before conference play began, the Bearcats played in the Georgetown Invitational (9/9-10) and West Virginia Tournament (9/15-16) finishing with a 3-3 record throughout the two weekends.
- To start America East play, Binghamton defeated New Hampshire (10/2) with a sweep before falling to UMBC (10/7).
- The Bearcats responded with a three-game win streak in conference play - picking up wins against NJIT (10/9), Bryant (10/14), and New Hampshire (10/16).
- Earlier this season, UAlbany snapped Binghamton's win streak.
- Most recently, the Bearcats added two league wins with a five-set victory over previously undefeated UMBC (10/30) and a sweep against NJIT (11/4).
- Tsvetelina Llieva leads the team with 3.79 kills per set.
- Madison Konopka (3.95 digs per set) and Anna Sprys (102.0 total blocks) lead the team's defense.
- Lottie Scully serves as the setter, totaling 729 assists, she averages 8.89 assists per set.
SERIES AGAINST THE BEARCATS
- UAlbany leads the all-time series, 35-13
- Earlier this season, the Great Danes beat the Bearcats (10/21) in five sets, which saw freshman Anna Myhal tally a team-high 20 kills.
- Last season, when UAlbany faced Binghamton on the road (9/26/21), the Bearcats picked up a five-set win, snapping a five-game away win streak for the Great Danes.
- UAlbany hasn't lost at home to Binghamton since October 2016.
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
- UMBC continues to lead the AE with six wins and one loss.
- Binghamton (6-2) and Bryant (4-3) follow closely behind.
- New Hampshire (3-4) and UAlbany (2-5) are in a tight fight for fourth and a chance to go to the championship tournament.
- NJIT sits bottom of the AE with one win and seven losses.
