SHORT STORY: The Great Danes celebrated Senior Day in their final contest of the 2022 season, Sunday evening.
COACH JOSH PICKARD: "I am very proud of our seniors and the career that they have all had. Noa [Brach], Malea [Stanton], and Charlotte [Macken] worked for four to five years and put great effort into their careers. From Dippikill and early mornings to championship seasons they saw it all and worked very hard."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoring the first five points, the Retrievers started the match on fire.
- The Great Danes responded with a three-point run, closing the gap to 5-3.
- UAlbany continued to chip away at UMBC's lead as the set progressed, tying the match at 13-13.
- Seeing four ties in the late stages of the set, the Retrievers shut down the comeback to win the first set, 25-19.
- The sides traded points to open the second set, seeing a total of six ties. UAlbany began to pull ahead, taking a 12-9 lead with four unanswered points.
- Going on a 4-0 scoring run, the Retrievers fought back to regain the lead at 13-12 before gaining a five-point advantage, 21-16.
- Back-and-forth points closed the set but the Great Danes could not battle back as UMBC took the second, 25-19.
- The Retrievers had a strong start in the third set, taking an early 5-2 lead. UMBC extended their lead, grabbing a six-point advantage, 14-8.
- UAlbany found a rhythm late into the set, but it wasn't enough as the Retrievers won the final set, 25-13, to win the match, 3-0.
