How it Happened:
- On the first drive of the game, the UAlbany defense came up big with an Isaac Duffy interception.
- On UAlbany's first drive, the team found the end zone with a 2-yard run from Todd Sibley. The TD capped off a 9-play, 51-yard drive for the Great Danes.
- The very next drive for the Hawks was just one play - a 75-yard TD run from Jaden Shirden to even the score at 7-7.
- Monmouth scored another TD with 3:13 remaining in the first quarter. Jaden Shirden completed the drive with another TD run, this time from 30 yards out.
- At the start of the second quarter, the Great Danes were able to drive the ball to the Monmouth 1-yard line. After a controversial non-TD call, the Great Danes were scoreless after going for it on 4th and goal from the 1-yard line.
- On the ensuing drive for Monmouth, Owen Wright scored on a 99-yard rush up the middle to push the score to 21-7.
- With 8:14 remaining in the second quarter, a costly UAlbany fumble gave Monmouth the ball back at their own 34-yard line.
- Monmouth's Eric Bernstein hit a 30-yard FG with 5:07 left in the first half, making it 24-7.
- Just before the end of the second quarter, the Great Danes finished off a 13-play, 90- yard drive with a 19-yard FG from John Opalko. The FG made the score 24-10 as the teams went to the locker room.
- On the opening drive of the second half, UAlbany pushed the ball down the field and into the end zone behind an 8-play, 76-yard drive. Todd Sibley scored his second TD of the day on a 19-yard rush.
- Monmouth found the end zone with 3:42 remaining in the third quarter behind a 16-yard pass from Tony Muskett to Jack Neri. That play capped off a 5-play, 53-yard drive, making it 31-17.
- On the ensuing drive, UAlbany responded with a 12-play, 70-yard effort resulting in a 1-yard rush by Reese Poffenbarger, making the score 31-24.
- Answering back, the Hawks punched it into the end zone with 6:28 left in the fourth quarter, marching down the field on an 11-play, 66-yard drive, with the TD being credited to Owen Wright by way of a 1-yard rush up the middle.
- The Great Danes followed by spending little time driving down the field and putting another 7 points on the board. Their 9-play, 76-yard drive was finished off with an 8-yard TD pass from Poffenbarger to Roy Alexander, making the score 38-31.
