ALBANY, N.Y. - The UAlbany women's volleyball team hits the road to Stonehill before continuing conference play at Bryant.

GREAT DANE REWIND 
  • The Great Danes opened their home slate with a four-set win over Marist (9/13).
  • UAlbany returned from the Cornell Invitational (Sept. 9-10) with two wins and one loss. The Great Danes defeated Temple in four sets before beating the host, Cornell, in five. Colgate took the final match of the weekend in four sets.
  • Facing top-tier teams, including #11 Penn State, UAlbany added competition at invitationals hosted by JMU (Aug. 26-27), Navy (Sept. 2-3), and Penn State (Sept. 16-17).
  • The Great Danes faced crosstown rival Siena (9/27), winning in four sets, after falling to Chicago State (9/25).
  • Most recently, UAlbany notched a victory over NJIT (10/2) in three sets after returning home from New Hampshire (9/30) with a 3-1 loss.
  • Throughout the season, sophomore Alexa Harris has come to lead the Great Danes with 3.19 kills per set while junior Hannah Rowe follows with 2.89 kills per set. 
  • On defense, libero Charlotte Macken leads with 4.29 digs per set. 
  • Harris leads the team with 35.0 blocks and junior Sadie Brown follows behind with 33.0 blocks. Both have compiled 0.56 blocks per set.
  • Sophomore Anissia Wong holds a team-high nine solo blocks.
  • Senior Malea Stanton leads the Great Danes with 491 assists, averaging 9.26 assists per set. 
  • Junior Kaleigh Fitzgerald has totaled seven service aces in the last four matches to lead to a team-high 26 aces.
 
ABOUT STONEHILL
  • The Skyhawks visited UNC Asheville (Aug. 26-27) to start the 2022 season. After visiting Bryant, Stonehill had tallied five losses in August.
  • Competing in the Kaiser Classic (Sept. 9-10), hosted by St. Johns, with a follow-up match at Saint Anselm (9/16), the Skyhawks added four losses.
  • Stonehill notched their first win, and only so far, over Saint Michael's College (9/17) with their home opener.
  • The Skyhawks have since lost five contests, including a five-set match at Hartford (9/30).
  • Jentry Allen leads the team with 2.38 kills per set. 
  • Kristen DeLorenzo (3.57 digs per set) and Lauren McMcloskey (34.0 total blocks) lead the team's defense. 
  • Stonehill has two different setters leading the team. Delaney Mihelich has totaled a team-high 218 assists while Molly Turner leads with 4.59 assists per set. 
 
SERIES AGAINST THE SKYHAWKS
  • This is the first matchup between UAlbany and Stonehill. 
 
ABOUT BRYANT
  • The Bulldogs opened the 2022 season with a 1-2 record at the Hofstra Tournament (Aug. 26-27) before hosting and defeating Stonehill (8/30).
  • Seeing three tournaments in September - Bryant Invitational (Sept. 2-3), Kaiser Classic (Sept. 9-10), and UConn Tournament (Sept. 16-17) - the Bulldogs added four single matches for an 8-5 record throughout the month.
  • Bryant started conference play at UMBC with a three-set loss. 
  • Aubrey Lapour leads the offense with 2.59 kills per set.
  • Abby Rae (3.32 digs per set) and Alysa Wright (62.0 total blocks) lead the team's defensive maneuvers. 
  • Totaling 351 assists, Mia Cergol leads the Highlanders with 5.32 assists per set. 
 
SERIES AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
  • The Great Danes lead the series, 1-0.
  • UAlbany swept Bryant during their first matchup, Sept. 21, 2019, at Chace Athletic Center. Current student athletes Malea Stanton (21 assists) and Charlotte Macken (10 digs) led with their respective stats. Noa Brach added playing time with three blocks and three kills.
 
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
  • America East-play began with UAlbany and New Hampshire on Friday, September 30. The Wildcats defeated the Great Danes, 3-1. 
  • Binghamton (10-4) and UMBC (8-5) sit at the top with a 1-0 record in conference play. The Bearcats notched a win over New Hampshire while the Retrievers beat Bryant.
  • New Hampshire (12-5) and UAlbany (5-12) are tied with a 1-1 record, both schools being the only teams with two conference games completed. 
  • Bryant (10-8) and NJIT (6-13) round out the pack looking for their first league win.
