BOSTON – University at Albany junior Shafique Wilson has earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors from the America East, the conference announced Monday.  He shares the award with UMass Lowell goalkeeper Jacob Heihsel, who recorded identical stats to Wilson in their head-to-head matchup last week.
 
Wilson and Heihsel were named alongside Offensive Player Ryan Becher from UMBC, and Rookie Oscar Perez from UMass Lowell.
 
Wilson, a goalkeeper from Kleinburg, Ontario, recorded four saves against the River Hawks, UAlbany's final road opponent of the 2022 regular season.  The game ended in a 0-0 draw, with Wilson recording his fifth clean sheet of the season.
 
UAlbany closes the 2022 regular season at home against #20 Vermont on November 1.
