GREAT DANE REWIND
- The Great Danes opened their home slate with a four-set win over Marist (9/13).
- UAlbany returned from the Cornell Invitational (Sept. 9-10) with two wins and one loss. The Great Danes defeated Temple in four sets before beating the host, Cornell, in five. Colgate took the final match of the weekend in four sets.
- Facing top-tier teams, including #11 Penn State, UAlbany added competition at invitationals hosted by JMU (Aug. 26-27), Navy (Sept. 2-3), and Penn State (Sept. 16-17).
- The Great Danes faced crosstown rival Siena (9/27), winning in four sets, after falling to Chicago State (9/25). In an away match, UAlbany swept Stonehill (10/6) for their sixth win.
- Starting home conference play, the Great Danes defeated NJIT (10/2) in three sets after a four-set loss to New Hampshire (9/30). UAlbany has added losses to Bryant (10/7 & 10/23) and UMBC (10/16).
- In their most recent win, the Great Danes grabbed a thrilling five-set win over Binghamton (10/21).
- With 258 kills, sophomore Alexa Harris has come to lead the Great Danes on offense, averaging 3.11 kills per set.
- On defense, senior libero Charlotte Macken leads with 4.17 digs per set.
- Sophomore Anissia Wong leads the team in blocks with 54, including a team-high 12 solo blocks. Junior Sadie Brown follows closely with 40 total.
- Senior Malea Stanton serves as the Great Danes' starting setter tallying 633 assists, averaging 8.33 per set.
- Junior Kaleigh Fitzgerald holds a team-high 33 service aces.
ABOUT NJIT
- The Highlanders have a 7-18 overall record with a 0-8 record in the America East.
- NJIT opened the 2022 season with three losses to Northern Illinois (8/26), UIC (8/26), and South Dakota State (8/27).
- The Highlanders notched its first win over St. Peters in three sets before suffering a four-game losing streak to LIU (9/2), Bucknell (9/3), George Washington (9/3), and FDU (9/6).
- NJIT has picked up three wins against Iona (9/21), Hartford (9/23), and Manhattan (9/27) only losing two sets across three matches.
- To open conference play, the Highlanders fell to UAlbany (10/2) in a three-set sweep and followed with losses to New Hampshire (10/7), Binghamton (10/9), and UMBC (10/14).
- Last weekend, NJIT snapped their four-game losing streak, sweeping Hartford (10/18), before falling in three sets to Bryant (10/21).
- On Friday, the Highlanders fell to UMBC in four sets.
- Asher Vallone leads the offense with 2.57 kills per set.
- Doga Emil (3.90 digs per set) and Courtney Branch (83.0 total blocks) lead the team's defensive maneuvers.
- Totaling 651 assists, Juliana Impaglia leads the Highlanders with 8.14 assists per set.
SERIES AGAINST THE HIGHLANDERS
- With a 4-1 advantage, UAlbany led the all-time series.
- The Great Danes currently hold a four-game win streak over the Highlanders.
- Most recently, UAlbany topped NJIT in a three-set sweep (10/2). Junior Sadie Brown tallied 13 kills and added a block in the win.
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
- UMBC sits in first with an undefeated, 6-0 record.
- Binghamton and Bryant tied for second closely behind, with four wins and two losses each.
- Tied for fourth and fighting for a spot in the America East tournament are UAlbany and New Hampshire, both 2-4.
- NJIT (0-6) remains at the bottom of the America East.
