HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set started back-and-forth until UMBC took the first multi-point lead, 5-3.
- A 10-4 advantage forced UAlbany to take a timeout, which led to a 3-0 scoring run for the Great Danes.
- After a second set of three-straight points from UAlbany, the Great Danes had brought the scoring gap to just two, 12-10.
- The Retrievers continued with the lead, gaining a 24-19 advantage.
- UAlbany added a third scoring run to put the set within two, 24-22, but a final point from UMBC proved to finish the set, 25-22.
- The second set started with four points from the Retrievers.
- After tying the score at four, the second set saw four more ties until UMBC notched two points in a row for an 11-9 lead.
- Keeping the action rolling, two mid-set three-point scoring runs from the Retrievers proved fatal as UMBC took the second set, 25-20.
- Starting out with four-straight points, the Retrievers continued to gain a lead until the Great Danes notched three points in a row for a 9-7 deficit.
- A second scoring run for UAlbany kept the two-point deficit, 12-10.
- After trading points back and forth, a final 3-0 scoring run from UMBC won the final set, 25-18, and the match, 3-0, for the Retrievers.
