Key Stats
  • Saad Faiz scored his third goal of the season
  • Andrew Weiner and Tiago Dias each scored their second goal of the season
  • UAlbany outshot Bryant 15-5 overall, including 6-1 in the first half
  • UAlbany controlled 60% of possession in the first half
Head Coach Trevor Gorman: "We're pleased to get another conference win tonight.  I thought we had control in the first half but didn't threaten their goal enough.  In the second half, we wanted to be more aggressive in the final third and it was good to see the goals go in."

"It was great to have the alumni back tonight.  Our program is always a reflection of players past and present and we want to share the experience with everyone.  We appreciated the support and look forward to continuing the tradition they started."

How it Happened
  • UAlbany's defense held Bryant without a shot until the 28th minute, when their first attempt fell weakly into UAlbany goalkeeper Shafique Wilson's hands.  In this time, UAlbany had taken five shots, one of which was on target.
  • Neither team scored in the first half, and the Great Danes entered the break with a 6-1 advantage in shots taken while controlling 60% of possession.  Both goalkeepers recorded one save in the first half, and Bryant had committed seven fouls to UAlbany's three.
  • At halftime, the team invited 19 former players for recognition as part of their Alumni Night celebration.
  • The Great Danes drew their first corner kick in the 54th minute.  Saad Faiz received the ball shallow and cut into the box.  Faiz shot just missed the mark near post and high.
  • UAlbany drew another corner in the 56th minute.  Faiz's serve found the head of a Bryant defender who attempted to clear the ball with his head.  The ball fell at the feet of Andrew Weiner, a halftime substitute, who ripped a shot past Bryant keeper Luca Marinelli to put UAlbany up 1-0.
  • In the 58th minute, UAlbany went up 2-0 after drawing a free kick on the sideline deep in Bryant territory.  Miltiadis Hadjipanayiotou took the free kick and switched the field to the far side of the Bryant box to Tiago Dias.  Dias redirected the serve with his head into the far side netting, extending UAlbany's lead.
  • Faiz got in on the action in the 70th minute, converting a through ball from Giuliano Lucca and Lovro Horvat in transition to put UAlbany up 3-0.  The Great Danes would go on to win by the same score.
  • UAlbany finished the game outshooting Bryant by a total of 15-5, and also controlled 53% of total possession for the 90 minutes.  The match featured five total yellow cards, four of which were given to Bryant players.  UAlbany's three goals matched its highest output of the season, and its three-goal victory is the largest since defeating Saint Rose 4-0 on March 19, 2021 during the COVID-rescheduled spring season.
Next: UAlbany visits Binghamton on October 8.
