Head Coach Leigh Howard: "Our staff is really proud about the way we came out and set the tone against a strong UConn team. We generated a lot of great chances, perhaps the most dangerous of the game, and need to continue to build upon those moments moving forward. They scored a great first goal and the second was a moment we wish we could get back. At the end of the day, the performance was something we were proud of and can take a lot from."

How it Happened
- UConn had an early scoring chance, when a free kick found its way through the defense in the second minute and into UAlbany goalkeeper Sophia Chen's arms.
- UAlbany's first scoring chance game in the seventh minute, when Jada Colbert crossed the ball far post to her sister Jasmine, who ripped a shot that was deflected by UConn's goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mahoney. The rebound fell at Marisa Tava's feet, who took a shot from deep, directly at Mahoney.
- Jada Colbert outraced a UConn defended on a through ball in the 15th minute. Her contested shot, against the charging Mahoney, just missed the mark into the outside near post side netting.
- In the 26th minute, Iola Cotter served the ball into the middle of the UConn box to a crashing Jada Colbert, whose diving header sailed over the crossbar. Two minutes later, UConn broke through, taking advantage of a loose ball in the UAlbany box, but their shot was turned away by Chen.
- Jasmine Colbert broke behind the defense in the 38th and her shot was blocked by a charging Mahoney. Jasmine collected the ball and attempted a draw that was deflected out of bounds for a UAlbany corner kick.
- Two minutes before halftime, Jada Colbert ripped another shot from deep that just missed into the near post outside netting.
- Chen made a diving punch save early in the second half when UConn's Jaydah Bedoya ripped a shot from 25 yards out. Chen's save prevented a goal and kept the score tied. A few minutes later, Jada played a through ball to her sister, whose wide-open shot was stopped by Mahoney.
- UConn's Isabelle Lynch broke the scoreless tie in the 75th minute, launching a deep shot from beyond the top left corner of the box far post past Chen to put the Huskies up 1-0. Forty seconds later, a miscue from the UAlbany defense saw the ball fall into their own net to give UConn a 2-0 lead.
- UAlbany's final chance came in the 89th minute on a free kick, when Hailey Summers crashed into the box on the serve and saw her shot sail low and just wide of the UConn net.
- UConn outshot UAlbany 17-10, though shots were even in the first half. Chen finished the game with a season-high nine saves.Â
