Head Coach Leigh Howard: "Today's game provided us with a good opportunity to plan an experienced, organized cross-town team.  It's a challenge to have to manage that game in between to strong conference opponents, but that's all part of the course of a season.  I thought that some of our young players really stepped up to the task in front of them and that's something that's great to see.  It's difficult to yet again not get the result we set out for, but that's our sport sometimes and we need to continue to believe in one another in our next pursuit."

How it Happened
  • The first shot of the game didn't come until the 13th minute, when Katrina Kurtz's effort was blocked by the UAlbany defense.  UAlbany's first shot came in the 16th minute, on target from Olivia Piraino and saved by Siena goalkeeper Brooke Boermeester.
  • Siena missed a shot just wide across the UAlbany goal in the 29th minute.  Cassandra Coster, making her second-straight start in goal for the Great Danes, dived to her right but the ball was just out of her reach, and rolled just wide of the far post for a UAlbany goal kick.  Siena had another chance in the 32nd minute, on a short breakaway, with the shot directed right at Coster.
  • In the 42nd minute, Devon Schmitt intercepted a bad pass from Siena's midfield, sending the ball forward where Jasmine Colbert could run on it.  Colbert beat Siena's defender to the ball and next beat Boermeester to put UAlbany up 1-0.
  • Coster made a big save in the 59th minute, off a Siena free kick.  The Saints played the kick short before sending the ball into the UAlbany box, and the shot was deflected off a UAlbany defender toward the top of the goal before Coster punched it over the crossbar for a Siena corner kick.
  • Jasmine Colbert received another through ball for a breakaway in the 65th minute but her shot went just high over the Siena crossbar.
  • Regulation ended with the score still tied 1-1, and the game went into overtime for the second time for the Great Danes this season.  Neither team scored in extra time and the game ended in a draw.
Next: UAlbany returns to Casey Stadium on September 26 to host New Hampshire.
