Blanca Orsola scored a goal in the first quarter but the team fell to the No. 1 team in the nation, Saturday afternoon.
KEY STATS
- Freshman Blanca Orsola scored the first goal of her career to give the Great Danes their only goal against #1 Michigan.
- Senior Sheridan Messier started in goal and tallied three saves; junior Hannah Mangan took over for the second half and earned two saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolverines jumped to an early lead, scoring the first goal just over two minutes into the game.
- Michigan added to their lead with a second goal less than six minutes later.
- In a goal-heavy first quarter, Orsola scored the Great Danes' goal with less than two minutes on the clock.
- The Wolverines guaranteed their win with two goals throughout the final three quarters. One goal was scored early in the second quarter and the final goal was scored in the middle of the third quarter.
NEXT: The Great Danes continue on the road for their first conference game. UAlbany will head to Vermont for an afternoon game on Sunday, September 26.
