UAlbany Football ‘Pink Game’ Set for Oct. 23

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany football program will host its annual "Pink Game" at 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 23 against Maine to support The American Cancer Society. This game gives the community a unique opportunity to honor a loved one who has been impacted by any type of cancer. By making a donation of $50, one can honor someone by having his or her name displayed on the back of a UAlbany football player's helmet. In addition, this donation will include two (2) game tickets.

Tribute Helmet donations must be submitted before Oct. 1, 2021.

The UAlbany athletic department planned this game in support of its head football coach, Greg Gattuso, who has committed to taking a stand against breast cancer throughout the American Cancer Society's 2021 Real Men Wear Pink Campaign.

"We are very excited to keep this game on our calendar, it's one of our favorites of the year," said coach Gattuso. "The American Cancer Society does an amazing job working with our team and athletic department to put on a great event while raising money for such an important cause. I can't thank Mark [Benson] and Lizzie [Hunter] enough for all they do to make this happen. We can't wait to see our fans wearing pink on October 23rd in support of the cause."

Lizzie Hunter of the American Cancer Society added "In addition to wearing pink every day in October and raising awareness about breast cancer, these men will be raising funds to help the American Cancer Society save more lives from breast cancer. Funds raised allow the Society to help save lives from breast cancer through early detection and prevention, innovative breast cancer research, and patient support."
