Short Story: Hanna Zarrilli's second goal of the season led UAlbany to a 1-0 win over 18th-ranked New Hampshire.

Coach Phil Sykes: "Our goal is to get sharper each game and we had a very good effort today. UNH is always a big conference rival and has been playing well. To get a win against them is always challenging and I'm proud of how the girls competed today all game until the end."

How it Happened
  • New Hampshire started the game with the only shot of the first quarter – an Isabelle Danahy shot on goal that was saved by Sheridan Messier. 
  • Katie MacCallum took UAlbany's first shot of the game at 22:02 that was saved by New Hampshire's Jemma Woods. Her shot stood as the only shot until the Wildcats fired one wide and both teams entered halftime tied 0-0.
  • In the third quarter, New Hampshire's Finn Caron created a chance off a penalty corner that went high. Charlotte Triggs created the next chance on a shot that went wide before UAlbany broke the scoreless tie. 
  • Hanna Zarrilli scored the game's first goal when she powered through the ride of the defense and took a shot far side. The goal gave UAlbany a 1-0 lead only 10 seconds before the end of the third quarter. 
  • In the fourth quarter, UAlbany started with three-straight shots, two on goal, but could not add to the 1-0 lead. 
  • New Hampshire responded with three shots in one-and-a-half minutes but the defense stood strong with one block and one save. With New Hampshire unable to capitalize, the Great Danes sealed their 1-0 victory in each team's first conference game.
