GREAT DANE REWIND
- Over a third of the 2021-22 Great Danes are veterans to the program but the four freshmen, as well as the excitement of welcoming fans back to SEFCU and summer training, have brought a new attitude and chemistry to the team.
- UAlbany returns its leaders in points (Helene Haegerstrand), defensive and total rebounds (Ellen Hahne), offensive rebounds (Lucia Decortes), assists (Ellen Hahne), and blocks (Lucia Decortes).
- Four of the five starters from last year return - Haegerstrand, Hahne, Decortes, and Grace Heeps.
- Playing in all 18 games as an important reserve, Kayla Cooper will see the court again.
- Fatima Lee and Taniya Hanner, two important reserves who saw at least 10 games on the court, will return for the 2021-22 season.
- Injured during her freshman season in 2019-20, Morgan Haney will make her return after three surgeries and two years off the court. As a freshman, Haney started all seven games she was available for, totaling 56 points (8.0 per game) and 20 rebounds (2.9 per game) with 13 assists and eight steals.
ABOUT HOFSTRA
- The Pride will open the season against UAlbany.
- Finishing 8-12 in the 2020-21 season, Hofstra returns all five starters - JaKayla Brown, Jaylen Hines, Jahsyni Knight, Jaala Henry, and Rosi Nicholson.
- Knight finished second in the CAA with 2.6 steals per game.
- Brown led the team with 16.3 points per game while Hines followed with 13.0 as well as a team-high 7.4 rebounds.
- Knight was a CAA All-Defensive pick and Brown was named to the CAA Second Team All-Conference.
- Hofstra will return 2019-20 CAA All-Rookie honoree, Sorelle Ineza, after she sat out last season due to injury.
SERIES AGAINST THE PRIDE
- Hofstra leads the series, 6-0.
- Most recently, the Pride hosted the Great Danes for a defeat on December 11, 2020. Ellen Hahne led the team with a double-double - 15 points and 11 rebounds - against Hofstra.
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
- Eight teams will begin their season on Tuesday, November 9 - New Hampshire, Maine, Binghamton, UMass Lowell, Vermont, Stony Brook, NJIT, and UMBC.
- The remaining two - UAlbany and Hartford - will start with night games on Wednesday, November 10.
- Reigning tournament champion, Stony Brook, was picked to finish first in the conference preseason poll. Maine followed with four points less.
- UAlbany was picked fifth with UMass Lowell (3) and Vermont (4) ahead of them.
- Binghamton (6), New Hampshire (7), NJIT (8), UMBC (9), and Hartford (10) rounded out the America East.

WHAT'S UP, PRESEASON
- The Great Dane women's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the conference in the preseason coaches' poll. With six first-place votes and 78 total points, Stony Brook was voted to finish first with Maine just behind (74 points, three first-place votes).
- UAlbany added four new players to the roster for the 2021-22 season - Koi Sims, Lilly Phillips, Abby Ray, and Freja Werth
DRIVE THE LANE WITH UALBANY HOOPS
- UAlbany has expanded its partnership with ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team and City Line Bar & Grill.
- Coaches Colleen Mullen and Dwayne Killings, along with select student-athletes, will join ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team's Charlie Voelker and Dan Bahl every Monday from 6-7 pm live from City Line Bar & Grill for a weekly segment entitled 'Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops'.
- Fans are invited to come out to City Line Bar & Grill to join Coach Mullen, Coach Kills, the student-athletes, and the ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team crew.
- Food and drink specials will be available on a weekly basis as the teams embark on their new seasons and talk hoops every Monday.
