GREAT DANE REWIND

• UAlbany opened the season with a 29-point victory over Hofstra (11/10), beating the Pride for the first time in program history.
• Most recently, the Great Danes fell at Merrimack (11/16).
• Senior Ellen Hahne led the team with 30 points, shooting 3-6 from outside the arc and 5-6 from the free-throw line for team-high percentages.
• Freshman Koi Sims (3-4), sophomore Kayla Cooper (6-10), and junior Helene Haegerstrand (7-14) lead the Great Danes with their respective numbers from the field.
• On the rebound,  redshirt-sophomore Morgan Haney owns a team-high 12 total rebounds with 11 defensive rebounds. Hahne has tallied a team-high seven offensive rebounds while senior Lucia Decortes follows with six. 
• Cooper and freshman Lilly Phillips have tallied four assists each.
• Decortes compiled two blocks at Merrimack to lead the team.
• Every single player from the 13-person roster saw action and contributed with a point or an assist in the season-opening game. 
• Of the 122 points scored in two games, the bench has tallied 57 points. This includes half (26) of the 52 points scored at Merrimack.
• As a team, UAlbany is hitting 38.1% from the field, 28.6% outside the arc, and 63.6% from the free-throw line. The Great Danes are averaging 61 points per game, 41.5 rebounds per game, and 13 assists per game.

 
ABOUT CORNELL

• The Big Red is 2-3 on the season with wins against Colgate (11/10) and Binghamton (11/17).
• Cornell played its first game since the 2019-20 season hosting Colgate for a 53-34 victory. 
• The team's three losses come from Wake Forest (11/12) and East Tennessee State University (11/14) on the road and Fairleigh Dickinson (11/20) at home.
• The Big Red will begin conference play on January 2 at Dartmouth College.
• Theresa Grace Mbanefo leads the team with 68 points making a team-high 56.6% of her shots from the field. Mbanefo also leads with 41 rebounds holding the team-highs on the offensive glass (15) and the defensive glass (26).
• KC Carter leads from outside the arc going 6-14 while Shannon Mulroy has compiled 15 assists.
• Ania McNicholas has totaled 11 steals to lead the Big Red.
• As a team, Cornell is hitting 36.3% from the field, 22.7% outside the arc, and 53.4% from the free-throw line. The Big Red is averaging 49.6 points per game, 36.6 rebounds per game, and 11.2 assists per game.

PAST CONNECTIONS

• Prior to coaching at Cornell, head coach Dayna Smith served as an assistant coach and interim head coach at Rhode Island. 
• During her time at URI, Smith contributed to the recruitment of UAlbany's head coach, Colleen Mullen. 
• Mullen spent two seasons playing at Rhode Island, coached by the point guard coach - Dayna Smith.
• Big Red assistant coach Val Klopfer was an assistant coach at UAlbany during the 2002-03 season.

 
SERIES AGAINST THE BIG RED

• Cornell leads the series, 7-1.
• The sole Great Dane win came during the 2009-10 season when UAlbany beat the Big Red, 80-55, on November 29.
• UAlbany last hosted Cornell in 2019-20 for their second game of the season on November 9, 2019. Morgan Haney led the team with 14 points against Big Red. Helene Haegerstrand tallied four rebounds while Taniya Hanner and Lucia Decortes also saw time on the court.

 
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST

• Binghamton leads the conference with five wins; the Bearcats are the only undefeated team in the America East.
• NJIT follows with a 3-2 overall record.
• UAlbany (1-1), Binghamton (2-2), and New Hampshire (2-2) sit in the middle with .500 winning percentages.
• Maine owns a .400 win percentage tallying two wins and three losses.
• UMass Lowell, UMBC, and Vermont are tied with a 1-3 record while Hartford is looking for its first win after four losses.

WHAT'S UP, PRESEASON

• The Great Dane women's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the conference in the preseason coaches' poll. With six first-place votes and 78 total points, Stony Brook was voted to finish first with Maine just behind (74 points, three first-place votes). 
• UAlbany added four new players to the roster for the 2021-22 season - Koi Sims, Lilly Phillips, Abby Ray, and Freja Werth

• UAlbany has expanded its partnership with ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team and City Line Bar & Grill.
• Coaches Colleen Mullen and Dwayne Killings, along with select student-athletes, will join ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team's Charlie Voelker and Dan Bahl every Monday from 6-7 pm live from City Line Bar & Grill for a weekly segment entitled 'Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops'.
• Fans are invited to come out to City Line Bar & Grill to join Coach Mullen, Coach Kills, the student-athletes, and the ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team crew. 
• Food and drink specials will be available on a weekly basis as the teams embark on their new seasons and talk hoops every Monday.
