Coach Greg Gattuso: "We put ourselves in a hole and tried to dig out of it the second half. We just couldn't convert on some of those fourth downs… If we were able to go down and put one more in we felt like we had a chance to win the football game, there was plenty of time left in the fourth quarter. We just couldn't rise up."
How it Happened:
- The Tigers got the ball to start the game and immediately drove down the field, ripping off their longest rush of the year in the process (41 yards – Jerry Howard). The UAlbany defense would stand tall on the goal line though, forcing Towson to kick a FG. Keegan Vaughan's 21-yard attempt successfully put Towson on the board first.
- The Great Danes drove the ball all the way to the one-yard line on their first offensive possession, but a costly fumble turned the ball over the Tigers.
- On the ensuing possession, the Tigers marched 98 yards to score the first TD of the game. The drive included a 4th-and-1 conversion on UAlbany's 30-yard line. The TD came off a direct snap to Devin Matthews, who ran the ball in from two yards out.
- The Tigers pushed the lead to 17-0 when Mark Collins intercepted a pass from Undercuffler, returning it 80 yards to the house for a pick-six.
- On their next possession before halftime, Towson scored once more. The drive was nine plays for 63 yards. The TD was scored on another direct snap to Devin Matthews, this time for one yard. The Tigers took a 24-0 lead into the locker room.
- The Great Danes were again struck by the turnover bug coming out of the locker room, with the opening drive being cut short in Towson territory due to a fumble.
- The Great Danes got on the board nine minutes into the second half. Dylan Burns sent a field goal through the uprights from 25 yards out.
- Towson then drove six plays, 65 yards to push the lead to 31-3. D'Ago Hunter ran the ball in from 43-yards out for the long score – his longest of the season.
- UAlbany bumped the score to 10-31 with just two seconds left in the third quarter. Undercuffler found Roy Alexander for a 22-yard TD strike, Alexander's second TD of the year.
- Just after the score, UAlbany's Mazon Walker forced a Towson fumble in their own territory. The Great Danes would quickly capitalize, scoring two plays later on a five-yard rush from Mofor to cut the lead to 17-31.
- The Tigers scored their final TD of the game late in the fourth off of an eight-yard rush from Jerry Howard.
- UAlbany notched the final score of the game late when Undercuffler found Jackson Parker in the corner of the end zone for an 11-yard strike with 18 seconds left on the clock.
