Recap

The top of UAlbany's batting order went down 1-2-3 to start the game and a bottom half single by Norfolk State was the only baserunner of the inning. In the second inning, UAlbany was sent down 1-2-3 again and a Spartan walk was their only baserunner before the Great Danes struck first in the third.

John Daly led off the third inning with a double. With two outs, Jason Bottari drove in the game's first run with a single, giving the Great Danes a 1-0 lead. In the bottom half, Norfolk State led off with a double and a walk. With runners on first and second and no outs, Anthony Germinerio recorded three-straight outs.

After a scoreless fourth inning, the Great Danes struck again. Alex Thul led off with a walk, advanced to second on a passed ball and moved to third on a Marc Wangenstein single. Daly followed with a sacrifice fly, giving UAlbany a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom half, Norfolk State did its first offensive damage of the series. Two singles to leadoff the inning followed by a sacrifice fly gave the Spartans their first run of the series. Joe Kruszka relieved Germinerio and allowed four more run on back-to-back RBI singles, an RBI groundout and a run on a throwing error, giving Norfolk State a 5-2 lead.

UAlbany had runners on first and second in the top of the sixth inning but were unable to capitalize. After a 1-2-3 inning bottom half, UAlbany scored another run in the seventh on a wild pitch, cutting the Norfolk State lead to 5-3.

In the bottom of the seventh, Kenny McLean replaced Kruszka and the Spartans scored another run on a sacrifice fly to take a 6-3 lead. The run was charged to Kruszka after he allowed a leadoff walk in the inning.

Dolan Ocasal led off the eighth inning with a walk, followed by a Nick Kondo strikeout and Brad Malm groundout. With two outs, Thul singled and he and Ocasal advanced on a throwing error. Ocasal scored after a throwing error, followed by a balk that drove in Josh Salandy, who pinch ran for Thul. Daly hit an RBI single the next at bat and tied the game 6-6. The Spartans had one runner on in the bottom half, but did no damage.

Back-to-back 1-2-3 innings in the ninth forced the game into extra innings, tied 6-6.

Kondo led off the tenth inning with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two outs, Wangenstein walked and Daly drove Kondo in with an RBI single past the shortstop, giving UAlbany a 7-6 lead.
