Short Story: The University at Albany women's basketball team continued its dominance against Binghamton on Sunday with a thrilling 56-53 victory, improving to 2-0 in conference play.
Coach Mullen: "It was a total team effort, we knew our goal was to keep Binghamton under 60 points, if we kept them under 60 points, we had a chance to win the game. I can't say enough about our toughness, I challenged the team to go out, have fun and take the opportunity to try and put in their effort for the last two practices and translate it into the game. Having 17 assists on 20 made field goals is just an unbelievable stat and shows we are sharing the ball."

Recap
The University at Albany women's basketball team won its second straight conference game of the 2020 season with a 56-53 victory over Binghamton on Sunday.
With the win, the Great Danes continued their dominance making it 21 straight victories over the Bearcats. Binghamton has not defeated UAlbany since February 20, 2011.
Led by two double-digit scorers for the second straight game, the Great Danes fought back after a quick 10-1 lead by the Bearcats in the first quarter. Schecter headlined the offense with 17 points, and Frames added 14 points.
Patricia Conroy and Haegerstrand also played key roles in the victory. Haegerstrand came off the bench scoring eight big points, including two three-pointers. Conroy added six points that consisted of two-three pointers, one of which gave UAlbany its first lead of the game.
The Bearcats got off to a quick start in the first, with a 10-1 run through five minutes of play. Haegerstrand and
Izzy Om cut into the deficit with back-to-back field goals in the paint, but Binghamton continued to hold onto their commanding lead with seven more points taking a 17-7 lead into the second.
Frames inched the Great Danes closer in the beginning of the second quarter, converting on her first three-pointer of the game making it 17-10. UAlbany continued cut into the deficit with a layup by Schecter and three free throws by Frames at the 7:48 mark, but Binghamton kept responding and led 21-15.
With Binghamton up 26-17,
Lucia Decortes sparked an 8-0 run for UAlbany at the 5:52 mark with a field goal in the paint. Highlighting the run was five straight points by Frames with a jumper and a three-pointer, which ultimately led to only a 26-25 advantage for Binghamton at halftime.
In the third, Binghamton maintain its lead with converting on a free throw, leading 27-25. Schecter knotted the game up at 27 at the 7:44 mark, and Conroy gave UAlbany its first lead of the game knocking down back-to-back three pointers making it a 33-27 game. Frames continued the scoring run for the Great Danes with her second three-pointer of the day with four minutes remaining, stretching the lead to 36-29. The teams traded points at the end of the quarter, but UAlbany continued to stay ahead with a 40-35 advantage heading into the fourth.
The fourth saw the two teams continuing to trade points, keeping the score close. The Bearcats knotted the game up at 46, but Haegerstrand responded with a three-pointer to put the Great Danes back in front. Binghamton cut the deficit to just two with a minute remaining, but free throws by Schecter at the end up sealed the win.
