DANBURY, Conn. – Adding to his list of accolades following his record-setting 2019 season, University at Albany quarterback Jeff Undercuffler has been named ECAC FCS Rookie of the Year.  Undercuffler, who was also named to the All-ECAC Second Team Offense, led two other players, Juwan Green and Eli Mencer, who also earned All-ECAC honors.
 
Undercuffler, a redshirt-freshman from Delran, N.J., set single-season program records in 2019 with 41 passing touchdowns and 3,543 passing yards.  In leading UAlbany to the program's first-ever FCS Playoff victory, Undercuffler threw a single-game record six touchdown passes.  Undercuffler was also named HERO Sports FCS Freshman All-America First Team, and was runner-up for the STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award.
 
Green, a senior wide receiver from Martinsburg, W. Va., was named All-ECAC First Team Offense.  Green led the CAA and the team with 17 receiving touchdowns and 1,386 receiving yards, and ranked third in the CAA with 99.0 receiving yards per game.  Green was named HERO Sports FCS All-America Second Team.
 
Mencer, a senior defensive lineman from Altoona, Pa., was named All-ECAC First Team Defense.  Mencer was the team leader with 14.5 sacks and 24.0 tackles for loss on the season, ranking second and third in the CAA, respectively.  He additionally recorded one interception and forced five fumbles.  Mencer was named HERO Sports FCS All-America Third Team.
 
The Great Danes went 9-5 overall in 2019 and finished second in the CAA behind a 6-2 conference record.  UAlbany won its first-ever FCS Playoff game, 42-14 over Central Connecticut State, before falling in the second round at Montana State.
