Short story: Jeff Undercuffler threw three more touchdown passes, but the University at Albany football team fell to Richmond, 23-20, in a CAA road game Saturday, Oct. 5, at Robins Stadium.

Jerah Reeves, Juwan Green and Murad Hussain all caught touchdown passes from Jeff Undercuffler, but the University at Albany football team fell at Richmond, 23-20, on Saturday in a CAA game.

Undercuffler hit Reeves on a 20-yard touchdown pass with 2:47 to play that brought the Great Danes within three points. But Richmond was able to hold the ball the rest of the way.

UAlbany's redshirt freshman quarterback completed 15-of-31 passes for 288 yards with three touchdowns, but UAlbany played from behind throughout the entire second half.

Hussain's TD was a spectacular one-handed grab in the first quarter that put UAlbany up, 7-3, and Green caught a 27-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

But UAlbany was bogged down by 16 penalties for 118 yards and an untimely turnover.

Leading 16-13, the Spiders intercepted a pass in Great Danes' territory with less than two minutes before halftime and returned it to the 6-yard line, setting up a touchdown run that made the score 23-13 at the intermission.

The teams remained scoreless in the second half until Reeves' touchdown catch.

Defensively, UAlbany was led by Levi Metheny's nine tackles. Mazon Walker had 3.5 tackles for loss, and Eli Mencer posted 3.0. Nick Dillon added a sack.

Up nextUAlbany is back on the road Saturday, Oct. 12, to face Towson in a CAA game. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
