Recap

The University at Albany men's soccer team came up short in a 3-2 overtime thriller against Stony Brook on Saturday. The game marked the ninth time in 23 meetings that the teams have had to past regulation for an outcome.

The loss snapped the Great Danes' five game winning streak, and handed the Seawolves its first conference win of the season.

In the first half, the Seawolves got off to a quick lead in the 11th minute when Jarred Dass was able to finish a cross on the left side of the goal to beat Hjerten.

The Great Danes responded in the 25th minute when A. DaSilva finished a cross from Sam Philip with a header that was able to beat the Seawolves goalkeeper to tie the game at one. DaSilva's goal was his 11th of the season and is now tied with Afonso Pinheiro's 2015 campaign for second in the program's Division I era for goals in a single season.

Stony Brook took the lead back in the second half in the 63rd minute on a goal off a free kick opportunity by Kori Cupid.

UAlbany almost quickly tied the game back at two in the 66th minute when Bjarki Ragnar took a shot and hit the crossbar. A minute later, the Great Danes broke through with the equalizer when Kaio DaSilva finished off a corner kick from Niklas Roessler.

The Great Danes had a chance to take the lead in the 79th minute when Konstantinos Louvaris made a spin move to get around the Seawolves' defense and taking a shot, but their goalkeeper made the save. The Stony Brook goalkeeper then stood his ground in the 88th minute when he was able to make another big save on a Great Dane and sent the game into overtime.

Gabriel Fernandes scored the game winner in the 98th minute to give the Seawolves the win beating Kennedy on a shot that went low right into the net.
