Recap

Led by an overtime goal by Roessler, the University at Albany men's soccer team continued its winning ways Saturday night with a 2-1 victory over UMBC.

UAlbany has won four straight, and three of the wins have come against America East opponents.

The Great Danes and Retrievers each had scoring opportunities in the first half, but neither were able to find the back of the net. UMBC came close to getting on the board in the 11th minute when Tre Pulliam took a shot that came close in some chaos with a loose ball that went high over the crossbar.

Ragnar had a chance in the 26th minute when he took a shot from the top of the box that went right into the UMBC goalkeeper's hands.

In the second half, Ragnar got the Great Danes on the board with a header off a corner kick from Sigurdarson in the 48th minute.

UMBC tied the game up at one in the 55th minute, when Alejandro Arbelaez took a shot on a free kick opportunity and was able to beat Hjerten.

The Great Danes had chances in the 80th minute off a give and go right in front of the UMBC goalkeeper, but he was able to make the save.

The UMBC goalkeeper also came up with two huge saves in the 86th minute stopping back to back shots by Sigurdarson and Ragnar, and sent the game into overtime.

In the 96th minute, Kaio DaSilva crossed the ball into the box, a scrambling Retriever defense could not clear the ball and Roessler got a piece of it and knocked it in for the 2-1 win.

UAlbany is 7-1-1 in its last nine games, and has outscored its opponents 11-3 during the four-game winning streak.
